    NOTE: This course's name was changed from Ministry 101 to Ministry Foundations. After completing this course, or if you had previously completed it, it will be shown in your transcript as Ministry Foundations.


    Overview: Ministry Foundations gives you an excellent foundation for pursuing fundamental ministry and developing your Christian leadership. This course is foundational for those who want to serve in a voluntary (bi-vocational) or salary position in ministry. Ministry Foundations is required for the Basic Ministry Award. 


    Basic Ministry Award: 

    • Christian Leaders Connection (3 credits)
    • Christian Basics (3 credits)
    • Ministry 101 (3 credits)


    Total: 9 credits


    This course is divided into three sections:

    I. The Calling of A Christian Revival Leader - Professor Francis Chan

    II. The Core Principles of Leadership for the Christian Leader - Dr. Bruce Ballast

    III. Personal Assessment for the Effective Christian Leader - Professor Ron Carter


    Course Outcomes:

    1. See how early Christianity launches revival for today. 
    2. Tie in the Renew, Restore and Revive work of God. What will be your role?
    3. Discern your calling to serve
    4. Explore the role of a mentor in your ministry training
    5. Learn what it takes to become an effective leader.
    6. Learn the key difference between a leader and a manager. 
    7. Get a working knowledge of the leadership levels.
    8. Understand the dark side of leadership so that you will stay effective in your leadership. 
    9. Learn the Biblical Foundations for Leadership
    10. Develop assessment strategies for personal growth as a leader
    11. Learn how to write a leader mission statement. 
    12. If you have not done so in the Connections class, you will also have the opportunity in this class to test out of the Christian Basics Course. Successfully completing that Christian Basics comprehensive exam earns you the Christian Basics Award.


    Assignments:

    1. View all online lectures and read all articles for each unit. CLI tracks whether you do this.
    2. Use the discussion forum to ask questions and exchange ideas with others.
    3. Take the online quiz for each unit. You will have 45 minutes to answer the questions for each quiz. Once a quiz starts, you must finish it and can't retake it. So be ready ahead of time. Each quiz covers readings and video lectures for that unit. While taking the quiz, you may use your notes and refer to articles and other materials. Tip: First, answer all the questions you know. Then try to look up answers to questions you don't know. When you have entered an answer for every question, submit the quiz for grading before the 45-minute limit.


    Grading Scale:


    A 95-100%   A- 90-94%   B+ 87-89%   B 83-86%   B- 80-82%   C+ 77-79%   C 73-76%   C- 70-72%    D+ 67-69%   D 63-66%   D- 60-62%   F 0-59%


    Your average grade for all assignments in the class must be at least 60%. Otherwise, you will fail the class and will receive no course credit.


    Deadline: You have 180 days to finish the course. Complete all assignments before the final deadline, or you will be automatically unenrolled, and all coursework will be removed. You will have to start over and take the class again to receive credit.
