Serve adults with disabilities, families, caregivers, churches, ministries, and communities with calm presence, wise boundaries, and Scripture-rooted hope in church, community, care, relational, and digital settings.
This course equips volunteer, part-time, and full-time chaplains to offer compassionate, consent-based spiritual care among adults with disabilities in churches, disability ministries, residential settings, community programs, caregiving environments, friendship networks, digital communities, hybrid ministry spaces, marriage and family support situations, and other approved disability-aware ministry settings.
Adults with disabilities chaplaincy calls for calm presence, wise boundaries, accessible spiritual care, and Scripture-rooted hope in settings shaped by dignity, belonging, communication differences, caregiving realities, and whole-person care.Course DescriptionAdults with Disabilities Chaplaincy Practice trains chaplains to serve adults with disabilities with calm presence, wise boundaries, accessible spiritual care, and Scripture-rooted hope. Students learn ministry of presence, consent-based spiritual care, confidentiality with limits, role clarity, emotional steadiness, and respectful care within real-life relational communities shaped by disability experience, communication differences, caregiving realities, belonging needs, family systems, adult identity, and whole-person dignity.
Chaplains will learn to recognize spiritual distress such as isolation, shame, anxiety, grief, loneliness, communication frustration, sensory overload, exclusion, belonging wounds, depression, relational strain, identity pain, meaning crisis, and personal burdens that often surface in disability-related settings. They will also learn to offer prayer and Scripture by permission, support adults with disabilities, families, caregivers, church leaders, and ministry communities under pressure, avoid triangulation and spiritual pressure, and serve wisely in visible, emotionally layered, and trust-sensitive environments.
This course is especially valuable for churches, disability ministry leaders, Christian caregivers, small-group leaders, friendship volunteers, chaplains, and ministry teams seeking to establish a trustworthy adults with disabilities chaplaincy presence that supports adults with disabilities and their wider support communities with dignity and care.
This course provides chaplaincy training only. Placement and participation depend on local relationships, ministry trust, accessibility realities, community dynamics, leadership structures, permissions, approvals, and wise collaboration.
Course Outcomes

- Quizzes: Open-book • 75-minute time limit • 2 attempts total.
- Passing Requirement: 60% minimum average.
- Deadline: 180 days from enrollment. If not completed, you will be unenrolled and must restart the course to receive credit.
