Soulful Sleeping: Slumber Better in Faith (1 CDS Credit)
Professor Henry Reyenga and Information from the Sleep Foundation
Throughout history, sleep is one of those activities shared in common with all humanity. We spend a large portion of our lives sleeping. Sleeping is an essential form of rest. God designed us to create, work, play, and rest. Unfortunately, sleeping often gets overlooked as a subject connected to our faith.
This Bible study takes a ministry science approach. What is a Ministry Sciences Approach? It's an approach that welcomes input from the Bible into the human experience. It involves studying how God has revealed His design in creation and how the Bible provides us with a clearer understanding of various topics. A ministry sciences approach is open to studying other sciences that explore everything but does not embrace the God-deleting presuppositions often found in many scientific approaches.
So, in this course on Soulful Sleeping, we embrace a soulful perspective on better sleeping. This holistic approach to better sleep invites God into the conversation. We also acknowledge what human scientists have discovered about sleep, as there is much to learn from their research. The result is that Christians can develop a soulful approach to sleep that includes spiritual insights, not just physical advice.
