Enroll me Christian Philosophy (3 Credits)
Overview
The very idea that there can be such a thing as a Christian Philosophy has long been denied and seldom tried. This course will explain why some Christian philosophers of the 20th century concluded that a Christian philosophy is possible, and will end with a brief account of one proposal of such a theory, the Christian theory of reality developed by Herman Dooyeweerd (1894 - 1977).
Because the notion that there can be philosophy theories that are Christian is such an unusual one in the history of Christian thought, many of the 36 lectures will explain and expand that idea. Only then will it be possible to appreciate and assess the theory constructed by Dr. Dooyeweerd.
Outcomes
1. Learn about the Christian Philosophy school of Dr. Herman Dooyweerd.
2. Develop critical philosophic discerning and thinking skills.
3. Embrace the importance of philosophy in the lives of Christian leaders.
4. Recognize the contribution Christian Philosophy has brought into the marketplace of ideas.
ResourcesThis course includes written materials by Dr. Roy Clouser. Thanks to Notre Dame Press for permitting Christian Leaders Institute students to access a digital copy of the Course textbook The Myth of Religious Neutrality.

If a course allows more than one attempt, but you've completed at least one-attempt on each quiz and submitted the final feedback thus receiving a final grade, you will not be able to update that final grade by attempting a quiz again afterward. CLI Student Vikki Allen
"My name is Vikki Allen. I am a proud Army veteran. I have recently celebrated my 27th wedding anniversary, with the same man. We have three beautiful and healthy sons, and each have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I work full-time and live approximately 25 miles outside of Washington, DC. For the past eight years, I having been serving as the Assistant Youth Director and the Children's Director at my local church. I love working with, and ministering to children and youth. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior in my early adulthood. However, I am just now finally learning how to fully rely on, and to trust God for everything.
I am looking forward to learning here at CLI, so that I will be fully equipped to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My desire is to be able to use the teachings and training that I receive here; to effectively present the Good News. It is my desire that I will gain a greater knowledge of the Word of God, and then to be able to boldly proclaim it to other people."
