Bible Study: Helping Others Fight the Battle
Bible Study: Helping Others Fight the Battle
Welcome and Introduction Welcome to session 31 of our Spiritual Warfare course! If you’ve made it this far—well done! You are growing in both knowledge and spiritual strength. In our last session, we focused on our personal battle with the enemy. Now, it’s time to prepare for something even greater: fighting for others.
Many of you are ministers, mentors, chaplains, or spiritual leaders. You are called not only to resist the enemy in your life, but also to engage in the fight for the freedom of others. Let’s walk through how to do this biblically, prayerfully, and with spiritual discernment.
Scripture Focus
Galatians 6:1-2 (WEB) – “Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness... Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Mark 16:17 – “These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons.”
Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give you authority... over all the power of the enemy.”
1. Understanding the Battle You’re Entering
When helping someone else, you may encounter the first three stages of demonic influence:
Opposition – The enemy stirs confusion, conflict, or discouragement.
Influence – The person is making unhealthy or destructive choices.
Oppression – They feel spiritually heavy, stuck, or bound.
Your role is not to fix them—but to help them find Jesus, who sets captives free.
2. Preparing Yourself to Minister
Like Doris Wagner and other deliverance ministers, you must prepare:
Spiritually – Spend time in prayer and, if possible, fasting.
Emotionally – Be ready to stay calm and compassionate.
Practically – Review the person’s background and meet in a safe, accountable setting.
🛡️ Always invite the Holy Spirit before you begin any spiritual care session.
3. Conducting a Spiritual Interview
Ask questions like:
“What’s going on in your life?”
“Have you felt spiritually attacked or bound?”
“Have you opened any spiritual doors through sin, trauma, or the occult?”
“Do you want Jesus to set you free?”
This is a conversation—not an interrogation. Guide them gently and let the Spirit bring truth to light.
4. Using the Weapons of Warfare
After prayer and discernment, you may:
Speak Scripture over the person (Ephesians 6).
Lead them in confession and repentance (1 John 1:9).
Guide them to renounce any agreements with darkness.
Pray a command prayer:
“In the name of Jesus, I command every spirit opposing this person’s life to go to Jesus. You have no authority here. Be gone.”
5. The Power of the Holy Spirit
After deliverance, don’t leave a vacuum:
Invite the person to pray for the Holy Spirit to fill them.
Teach them about abiding in Christ.
Encourage them to worship, read the Word, and stay in community.
Luke 11:24–26 warns that if the house is swept clean but left empty, the enemy may return with greater force. Don’t just help them get free—help them stay free.
6. Real-Life Stories of Ministry Encounters
Many believers have encountered strange setbacks or “bad luck” right after coming to faith—sickness, home problems, constant frustration. These may be more than coincidence. Often, prayer in Jesus’ name breaks these patterns. You are called to discern and pray boldly.
Other signs of deeper spiritual bondage:
Unusual strength or rage
Voices or personality changes
Suicidal thoughts with no root cause
Involvement in occult practices
If these arise:
Form a prayer team
Seek seasoned leaders for help
Proceed with humility, compassion, and authority
7. Ongoing Care and Discipleship
Deliverance is not the end—it’s the beginning. Help the person:
Join a local church
Begin discipleship and Bible study
Receive pastoral or counseling support
Learn to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6)
Prayer of Intercession and Boldness
Jesus, You are the Deliverer. Thank You for entrusting us with the ministry of healing and freedom. Teach us to walk in Your power, under Your authority, and in Your love. Equip us to minister with wisdom and grace. Let every captive be set free, ev
