Bible Study: Strategic Level Warfare - Attacking the Gates of Hell

🌿 Opening Prayer

Our Father, God, Lord Jesus, powerful Holy Spirit, We are grateful for what You’ve told us—that You are in us, Holy Spirit. Greater are You in us than the one who is in the world. We admit, Lord, that this is an intimidating battle. We see so many areas in our world that seem under the enemy’s control. Yet, You have called us to be warriors.

We pray now, Lord, for the students in this class—that they may begin to envision a life of ministry, a Spirit-filled journey of deliverance and power.

We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

📊 Review: Personal to Strategic Warfare

In earlier sessions, we looked at:

  • When you are oppressed or under attack by the enemy.

  • When others in your family, church, or neighborhood need deliverance.

Today we move to a third level:

🌎 Strategic Level Warfare

Definition: Strategic Level Spiritual Warfare (SLSW) involves confronting principalities and powers that influence entire territoriesregions, or nations.

This warfare is not just about individual deliverance— It’s about challenging evil systems entrenched in spiritual strongholds.

Scripture Basis:

  • Ephesians 6:12: “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

🔖 Daniel 10: A Biblical Case Study

Daniel received a vision he didn’t understand. He fasted for 21 days.

“Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard... but the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me 21 days.” (Daniel 10:12-13)

This passage reveals territorial spirits influencing human affairs. Daniel’s prayer moved heaven, yet spiritual resistance delayed the answer.

⛩️ Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail

Jesus said:

“On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

Gates are not offensive weapons—they are defensive structures.

This means we are the ones called to advance. We have been given power to storm the gates of hell where Satan has set up strongholds.

🪖 Demolishing Strongholds

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. They have divine power to demolish strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:4)

Strongholds are deeply embedded patterns of evil in people and places:

  • Political corruption

  • Sex trafficking

  • Poverty systems

  • False religions

  • Addiction industries

🌍 A Real Example: Roquetas, Spain

A region covered in greenhouses supplies Europe with vegetables. But underneath:

  • 267,000 African migrants trafficked for labor.

  • Women forced into prostitution.

  • Legal systems turn a blind eye.

This is a stronghold of greed, exploitation, and evil. When visiting, believers went to a mountaintop and prayed against the principality ruling that region.

They prayed:

  • That God would bind the spirit of greed.

  • That those enslaved would be delivered.

  • That the Church would rise up.

⛓ Watchmen and Watchwomen on the Wall

Like Daniel, we are called to watch and intercede:

  • For regions like SudanSomalia, or Israel-Gaza.

  • For cities in our own countries with entrenched evil.

Strategic warfare requires:

  • Vision to see the battle.

  • Prayer and fasting to engage the enemy.

  • Unity with other believers.

  • A deep dependence on the Spirit.

🌿 Closing Prayer

Lord, we acknowledge that many areas are under siege. Reveal the strongholds to us. Give us discernment and courage to engage in strategic-level warfare. May Your Church rise up. May chains break. May justice flow. We pray in Jesus’ name.

Amen.
