Welcome to the final week of our Introduction to Business course! As we wrap up this journey together, we’ll focus on two essential topics: preparing for your career in business and understanding the legal and tax environment that shapes the world of commerce. Whether you’re pursuing a business degree or another path, these lessons will serve you well in your professional and personal life. As Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you...

Let’s begin with your career. Choosing to pursue a college education is one of the most powerful decisions you can make. It opens doors to better job opportunities, higher earning potential, and a more fulfilling life. A business degree, in particular, provides a strong foundation in communication, leadership, and problem-solving—skills that are valuable in every industry. Whether you dream of becoming an entrepreneur, a manager, or a creative professional, understanding business will help you thrive.

But success in the workplace isn’t just about technical knowledge. It’s also about interpersonal skills—how you communicate, collaborate, and lead. Building trust, listening well, and resolving conflict with grace are essential traits of effective professionals. As Proverbs 15:1 says, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Learning to speak with wisdom and act with integrity will set you apart in any career.

Planning is another key to success. Whether you’re setting short-term goals or dreaming big, having a plan helps you stay focused and resilient. The Bible encourages us in Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Balancing spontaneity with discipline allows you to enjoy the moment while still working toward your long-term vision.

As you prepare for your future, it’s also important to understand the legal and tax environment in which businesses operate. Laws protect consumers, ensure fair competition, and provide a framework for resolving disputes. From contracts and warranties to intellectual property and bankruptcy, legal knowledge empowers you to make informed decisions and avoid costly mistakes. Romans 13:1 reminds us to respect the rule of law: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.”

Taxes, too, are a reality of life and business. Understanding how income, property, sales, and payroll taxes work helps you manage your finances wisely. As Jesus said in Matthew 22:21, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” Being a responsible citizen includes understanding your obligations and planning accordingly.

As we close this course, I want to thank you for your dedication and engagement. You’ve explored the foundations of business, from entrepreneurship and marketing to finance, ethics, and law. You’ve learned how businesses operate, how they grow, and how they serve society. Most importantly, you’ve taken steps toward becoming a thoughtful, ethical, and empowered leader.

This is just the beginning. Whether you continue your studies in business or pursue another path, the knowledge and skills you’ve gained here will serve you well. Keep learning, keep growing, and never stop believing in your potential. As Philippians 1:6 encourages us, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.”

Congratulations on reaching the final week of the course. I wish you all the best in your future studies and career. May your journey be filled with purpose, perseverance, and joy. Please join me in continuing to pray for CLI and the mission that God has given this great institution. God Bless!
