One of the challenges that we all face as leaders, particularly as our  responsibilities continue to grow, is keeping up with incredible amount of change that's taking place all around us, particularly change as it relates to technology  and communications. It can be overwhelming for us, not only as an individual,  but even for an entire enterprise. So today, we're going to be talking about how  important is to keep up with change, but yet, at the same time, staying grounded in the truth of God's word that never changes. You know, there are two essential  tools that you and I need today as leaders if we're going to fulfill our  responsibilities. One is a cell phone. This cell phone really helps us stay in touch with our family, our associates, our friends, our customers. It's bringing our  whole world closer together, and it's speeding up the pace of change. Even  more importantly is the metaphor of what this cell phone represents in terms of  the speed of change and how important it is that you and I as leaders constantly retool our thinking and adjust to changing circumstances that are all around us. I love the expression that when the rate of external change exceeds the rate of  internal change, disaster is imminent, and you and I lives are dependent on you  and I staying in touch and staying relevant with the roles and the responsibilities  that you and I have. Well, just as important is to keep up with all the change  that's going on all around us, is to remember the most important truths and  principles that you and I have to make decisions on are really fundamentally  based on truths and principles that have never changed. And for me, a copy of  God's word reminds me that I've got to stay grounded in that which has never  changed. In fact, we realize that as we look into the lives of people around us,  as we think in terms of our own temptations that we face with this sometimes  this can be lethal without the truth of God's Word and balance. It's wonderful to  know that God's word was really intended to be a tremendous encouragement  to you and I as a leader. One of my favorite passages is Joshua 1:8, God gives  a word of a powerful encouragement to Joshua that I think really was intended  even for you and I today. As he says, Joshua, this book of the law, it cannot  depart out of your mouth. You're gonna have to meditate on it day and night. If  you do, you'll be able to do all the things that are written therein. And if you do,  then you're gonna have success. God wants you and I to make smart choices,  wise choices and decisions about our roles that we have in life, and particularly  in our family and his role in parent and even in business, this was intended to be one of the greatest business tools that you and I can have as a leader today. So  to remind us of all the change that's taking place around us, I'm packing a cell  phone in my leadership toolkit, but to remind us of all the things that have never  changed and will never change. I'm packing a copy of God's word so that you  and I can be the leaders that God intended for us to be.
