Video Transcript: Back Links

I want to talk today about backlinks. Now, backlinks are a good possibility, but  they can be very dangerous. And as you think about backlinks, I want you to  think about a few things first. First of all, the reason Google or yahoo or bing like backlinks is because it tells them, does anyone else agree with you in the world  of the global society? Do people agree with you? Do people recommend you?  Do people put you on their webpage to link to you, and because Google has  algorithms to basically check this out. They can check whether Are you a  movement, or are you just one site alone, how many people agree with you? In  other words, how many backlinks are there? Do people in the know agree with  you? In other words, are highly respected sites agreeing with you. Are more and more people agreeing with you, are more and more people linking to you? Or  are you stagnant? These are all very important things to Google. Now I want you to know too, there's a spammy way, or a back hat way that's out there. And that  back hat, black hat way is a way that just gets lots of links, phony links that  agree with you now in the early days of the web, just in early days only a few  years ago, Google would recognize this as being a link of someone agreeing  with you. But Google is getting more and more picky to look through those  cheater backlinks where people are creating popularity, paying for popularity,  when the popularity really isn't there. So what Google is saying, you know,  somebody may have lots of backlinks, but they're bad backlinks, because  they're phony backlinks. They're paid to give you popularity. What Google is  looking for is native, real encouragement from real people who really agree with  you, who recommend you, and then you get higher places in the organic  marketing on the Google Sites. Again, watch that spam danger, phony  agreement will be recognized in time. So you don't want to set up a website  where you have create backlinks, but it's just phony. You're really creating it, but  it's not real. So that's the story about backlinks. Backlinks are very important.  There's lots of teaching and tools about backlinks on the Web, YouTube videos  you can read to learn how to create them, learn how to get more of them. But  always keep in mind you want to get your network of people who like you to give you the recommendations, not something that you create and pay to create to  give a phony impression to Google, backlinks are very important, but there's  danger if these backlinks are not authentic and real,
