Transcript: 3 Types of Christian Entrepreneurs - Which One Are You?

Did you know that there are three types of Christian entrepreneurs? I wonder which one you are. The first type of Christian entrepreneur is actually the thinker, so what does the thinker do, and are you the thinker? Well, the thinker is somebody who is always researching and always looking for the next thing, and they're thinking about it. Right? They may be really passionate about starting a business, or they want to start a YouTube channel, or they want to do this. To do that they want to do a podcast but they’re still thinking so what happens is they end up thinking about it and time keeps going by and going by I don't know if you can relate but time keeps going by and going by and they're not actually getting anywhere because the thinker is in a place of over analysis so here's an example of overthinking so a story that my wife Megan shares is that you know when she would take tests and uh might be dating ourselves but they were scantrons right so those little bubbles and those lead pencils and she would have circled the bubbles and she would get you know an A on the test however she would over analyze and overthink and she’d go back and flip the pencil upside-down and erase the bubbles and get herself a nice C and the teacher would say if you distrusted you just made a decision and made it right if you just made that decision and got into action what would happen and so if you're quote a thinker and you're How to Break Through still in that place of action that is type number one as a Christian entrepreneur and we can teach you how to break through that so how do you breakthrough being a thinker the answer is number one is we want to know that when you make a decision you have the potential to then make it right really hear that make a decision and know that you have the power to make it right so it'll allow you to just make decisions because if you're a thinker and you're not taking action it’s because you're nervous that whatever you decide will be the wrong thing or the other side of the coin would be you’re not taking the action because you might have a fear that is a fear of success a fear of failure a fear of well if I go from thinking to actually starting that business or doing whatever that initiative is or launching whatever you want to launch what if it doesn't work there’s an uncertainty in a fear associated with that uncertainty that’s keeping you where you're at am I palingenesis that you are you a thinker you might be nodding your head up or down or left and right but if you're a thinker how do we breakthrough that fear phrase that we say a lot another quote is done beats perfect because perfectionism while people say well I'm a perfectionist and they think that's a badge of honor it's actually a glorified excuse being perfectionist there's no glory to being a perfectionist so what you can do is you can adopt this mentality called done beats perfect so say it with me now done beats perfect you can even sing it done beats perfect here's an example of done beats perfect way back when I was 28 years old and I look back at my life I had failed at 11 different businesses over 10 years and that was 18 to 28 years old and so I was so discouraged and I had all these challenges I’m not going to get into the whole story but it was in a really tough spot and I knew I wanted to find a way out and so I started buying courses and I started you know getting online courses and I started getting all this information but I was still thinking about it and what happened was that I ended up in a tremendous amount of debt from buying stuff and I wasn't taking any action I was the brokest busiest guy that anybody knew so what happened was I caught a vision I made a declaration I got into action and I chose to live with done beats perfect so what happened was I said you know I'm going to make my you know my website right I don't know how to make a website so I made nickunsworth.com and I didn't know what how to make a good tagline so my tagline was social media training that will blow your socks off the word blow is all emphasized it was not it was not great at all I even had someone that made a spoof video about me when I first got started uh and I'll show you here so there you have it that was a spoof video that someone made in like I don't know 2010 or 2011 about my website right and um and so how did I make the website I mean I literally just chose done beats perfect because after eight hours of uh trying to do the about me video I didn't know what to say I didn't have any experience and so I just said you know what done beats perfect I'm just gonna get started so my advice to you right here right now is that if you have something you've been wanting to do maybe you've been watching YouTube videos and you've been wanting to do your own maybe you've been listening to podcasts you want to do your own whatever that thing is that God is stirring you to go do let now be the time that you just jump into action so I want you to get out of being a thinker and let's now talk about the second type of Christian entrepreneur okay so the second type of Christian entrepreneur is what we call a Starter Stopper starter and a stopper so a starter and stopper what does that mean well they're really really good at beginning things starting things projects so you're a starter and stopper if you say hey you know what I'm going to do this diet and then or hey I'm going to start this business and you get a lot of things going but nothing ever gets to completion so is that you are you a starter and stopper what's the ramification of being a starter and stopper what happens is that as a starter and stopper you get excited about something but you don't follow through and it leads to discouragement and it also leads to integrity deteriorating because people around you they see you starting but not finishing anything so that pattern called starting and stopping becomes problematic where we start to look at ourselves in there we start to have lessened you know integrity and even like self-love and all these challenges start to arise from it so how do we break free from being a starter and stopper a quick strategy in breaking free from that is to use the power of a declaration so you hear me talk about karva declaration in some videos and it's so important because it's the ultimate strategy to bust through being a starter and stopper and basically what it means is whatever you're starting whatever you're doing you just make a declaration and commit to the final result and the more people that you tell the more leverage you're gonna have to actually complete it and that's how you can bust through being a starter and stopper all The Doer right the third type of Christian entrepreneur is the doer so the doer what is the doer well the doer is somebody who is in fast action somebody who is making things happen and moving quickly I had a mentor that once told me that your success is in direct proportion to your speed of implementation so what does that mean what it means is the people who are really successful they're moving fast and when you're moving fast you don't have time to to look backwards and and whine or complain or make excuses about something that didn't work you just keep moving you're perpetually in motion when you look at Megan and I and Life on Fire and our clients and all the things that we do our Life on Fire family we're moving fast you know we're trying new things you know thinking about it as an experiment as opposed to you know you you know you do a marketing campaign and it doesn't go according to plan instead of being this big defeat and failure it's a learning environment it's an experiment and you get to move faster and faster and faster what I also like to call it is as a doer you've got your hands to the plow right I mean when you think about having faith faith in action faith plus works faith in action you know to sit back and to just say God you know here's what I want and to to pray without putting your hand to the plow I mean God loves your faith and God loves your faith in action and so when you put it in action when you believe for a miracle when you get your business moving and take fast action it's incredible what the doer can accomplish by moving really quickly I like to also think of it as and this is huge is the speed of obedience Speed of Obedience so your speed of obedience you know for Megan and I you know when when we started Life on Fire we knew that God was calling us to share our testimony and to share you know um how we accepted Jesus into our hearts how we became born again Christians and the impact it's had the miracles we've experienced so when God gave me personally a vision and God showed me me on stage with Megan in front of hundreds of people at an event a Life on Fire event way back in 2014 sharing my testimony at a secular Life on Fire event speed of obedience God showed me that I had fear I said God you got the wrong guy I've only been saved for six months I'm not qualified to talk about my testimony or faith or to do an altar call they must be the wrong Nick maybe he meant to go to some other Nick and so what I did though was I had speed of obedience I was a doer and I said you know what I went to my pastor and I went to our lead and senior pastor and I said hey this is the dream I had I know that this is from God I totally don't feel qualified um but what do I do I want to be obedient to what God God has for me in this and that said rise to the occasion rise to the occasion be the first at men's prayer and the Rise to the Occasion last to last to leave right like like do do these these things to set yourself up be the doer to take massive action on it and then be bold and courageous on that stage and share your testimony openly honestly authentically and let God do the rest and the Holy Spirit moved I just simply shared my testimony I'll never forget when I was standing there and I did it I shared my testimony and it was this crazy thing you know because it was a secular audience and we did it in bold faith that God would show up and had speed of obedience and I remember as I said every head bowed every eye closed that's where the devil started speaking the loudest and I'm up on stage you could hear a pin drop you could hear a pin drop you could hear I mean it was so quiet and I look out and I see everyone you know their heads bowed eyes closed and I was right as I was about to give them the opportunity to raise their hand accept Jesus into their heart and I see Megan my angel in the crowd he got these lights behind her and her hands were up and she was praying for me to be courageous to be obedient to what God said and I got the courage and I did it and there was this big huge huddle of 65 plus people that accepted Jesus into their hearts for the very first time or rededicated their lives to Jesus and it was an incredible powerful powerful moment that unlocked and unleashed people you know in their lives and also for Megan and I that was one of those steps that changed the course of our entire lives of our business and our focus and how you know uh showing up and serving at church changed everything so why do I share that that is a doer right to see something or to get a vision from God or hear from God and then to go put it into fast action so your success is in direct proportion to your speed of implementation and really hear this speed of obedience what happens when you say yes to what God has for you and you put it into action now so we
