Students may enroll in no more than 18 credit hours of uncompleted courses at any given time. This number is the Initial Enrollment Cap. The Student’s Effective Enrollment Limit is calculated using this number, but it also takes into consideration and will be reduced, if applicable, by the Cumulative Failure Penalty (CFP), which is equal to the total credit hours of all courses a student has failed. For example, a student enrolled in 16 hours of uncompleted courses may only enroll in an additional 2 credit hours. If a student fails a 3-credit course, their Effective Enrollment Limit drops to 15 credits (18 minus 3). This limitation would remain in effect until the student successfully completes the failed 3-credit course. The penalty for a specific failed course is removed, and the student's Effective Enrollment Limit is restored to 18 credits, only when the student successfully retakes that exact course and receives a passing grade.

Additionally, students may complete up to 21 total credits/units per semester. This cap applies to the sum of credit hours completed, regardless of when the courses were originally enrolled. The semesters are defined as Winter (January-April), Summer (May-August), and Fall (September-December). This 21-credit limit is calculated based on the student's Active Enrollment Workload for the current semester. If a student is still actively working on a credit-bearing course that was enrolled in during a previous semester (within its six-month enrollment window), the credit value of that course is deducted from the 21-credit limit for the new semester. For instance, if a student is still enrolled in and actively working on a 3-credit course from the prior semester, their maximum enrollment for the current semester becomes 18 credits (21 minus 3).

The 21-credit completion limit does not apply to module-based courses (such as Skills or Alliance courses) or Mini-Courses.
