🎥 Video Transcript: How to Create Your CLI Student Profile

Hi, I’m Haley, a Christian Leaders Institute presenter.

In this video, I want to help you create your Christian Leaders Institute student profile.

For some students, this step feels easy. For others, it can feel a little awkward or even stressful.

You may wonder, How much should I share?
You may feel nervous about uploading a photo.
You may not know what to say about yourself.
And you may be taking this course because you want help with anger, even if you are still exploring faith or are not sure what you believe yet.

That is okay.

You are welcome here.

Some students at Christian Leaders Institute are committed Christians. Others are curious about the Christian perspective and want help, wisdom, and a better way forward. Some are here because of personal need, encouragement from someone they trust, or even a court referral.

Wherever you are starting from, your student profile does not need to say more than you are comfortable sharing.

The goal of your profile is simple. It helps people know a little about who you are. It gives a human face to your learning journey and helps you take one more step into the CLI learning community.

Let’s talk about what makes a good student profile.

First, upload a clear and friendly picture of yourself.

It does not need to be fancy or professional. But it should be a picture that is bright, respectful, and easy to see. A simple photo with your face clearly visible is best.

Try to avoid very dark pictures, blurry pictures, or group photos where it is hard to tell which person is you.

A good photo helps your profile feel real and personal.

Second, write a few simple details about yourself.

You do not need to write a long story. Just share enough to introduce yourself.

You might include where you live, what kind of work you do, what stage of life you are in, or a few things that matter to you.

If you are comfortable, you may also mention a little about your marriage or family life. For example, you might say that you are married, have children, are a grandparent, or value family relationships.

These details can help your profile feel warm and personal. But you are not required to share private information. Keep it simple, respectful, and appropriate.

Third, you are welcome to share something about your personal journey, if you want to.

If you are a Christian, you may want to briefly share part of your testimony or say something about what God is doing in your life.

If you are not a Christian, or if you are still exploring faith, you can simply share why you are taking the course and what you hope to learn.

For example, you might say that you want to grow, improve your relationships, gain more self-control, or learn how the Christian perspective approaches anger, peace, and personal change.

That is completely fine.

There is no pressure to say more than feels honest to you.

A student profile is not the place to share every detail of your life. It is just a short introduction.

Here is a simple way to think about it:

Be real.
Be respectful.
Be clear.
But do not feel like you need to share everything.

For example, someone might write:

“My name is David, and I live in Florida. I am married and have two children. I joined this course because I want to grow in self-control, improve my relationships, and learn a healthier way to deal with anger.”

Or someone else might write:

“My name is Lisa. I am taking this course during an important season of growth in my life. I am interested in the Christian perspective on peace, healing, and personal transformation, and I hope to learn tools that will help me respond better in difficult situations.”

And if someone is a Christian, they might write:

“My name is Mark, and I am thankful for the chance to study at Christian Leaders Institute. I want to keep growing in my faith, become more peaceful in my responses, and follow Christ more closely in everyday life.”

Each of those works well.

Your profile does not need to sound impressive. It just needs to be honest, thoughtful, and appropriate.

So as you create your CLI student profile, remember these three simple ideas:

Upload a clear and friendly picture.

Share a few details about yourself, including family or marriage information if you feel comfortable.

And if you want, say a little about your personal journey, your testimony, or why you are taking this course.

Most of all, do not overthink it.

This is just one step in the process, and you can update your profile later as you grow.

We are glad you are here, and we look forward to supporting your learning journey.

Let’s get your profile started.
