Exploring Your Calling in Chaplaincy

Hi, I am Haley, a Christian Leaders Institute presenter.

One of the reasons this course exists is to help you think prayerfully about calling.

Calling is not always loud. Sometimes it begins as a quiet burden. Sometimes it grows out of life experience. Sometimes it becomes clear through service. You may already feel strongly drawn toward chaplaincy, or you may simply be curious and open.

Both are okay.

At this stage, you are not being asked to prove anything. You are being invited to pay attention. What kinds of people or moments seem to draw your heart? Do you feel burdened to care for those who are grieving, struggling, isolated, or in transition? Do you feel peace when you think about presence-based ministry? Do you find yourself wanting to bring Christ’s comfort into places where people are hurting?

Those questions can help you begin.

It is also important to remember that calling and timing are not always the same thing. You may sense a real desire to serve, but still need training, structure, and clarity. That is normal. Strong ministry often begins with humble preparation.

At Christian Leaders Institute, we want students to move forward with wisdom. That means beginning with formation, not pressure. It means learning the pathway. It means taking the next step that is actually in front of you.

You do not need to solve your whole future today.

In this course, you will have opportunities to reflect on your motivations, your hopes, and your next steps. You may discover that chaplaincy fits your calling. You may discover that another ministry pathway fits better. Either way, this course can help you move forward more clearly.

A healthy beginning matters. A clear next step matters. And a willing heart matters.
