🎥 Video Transcript: How to Create Your CLI Student Profile

Hi, I’m Haley, a Christian Leaders Institute presenter.

In this video, I want to help you create your Christian Leaders Institute student profile as you begin your chaplain journey.

For some students, this step feels easy. For others, it can feel a little awkward.

You may wonder, What should I say about myself?
You may feel unsure about uploading a photo.
You may not know how much personal information to include.
And you may still be exploring what chaplaincy means for your life.

That is okay.

You are welcome here.

Some students at Christian Leaders Institute have been serving in ministry for years. Others are just beginning to explore a possible calling. Some are active in churches, ministries, or chaplain settings. Others are simply taking a first step and wanting to learn more.

Wherever you are beginning, your student profile does not need to say more than you are comfortable sharing.

The goal of your profile is simple. It helps people know a little about who you are. It gives a human face to your learning journey and helps you take one more step into the CLI learning community.

Let’s talk about what makes a good student profile.

First, upload a clear and friendly picture of yourself.

It does not need to be fancy or professional. But it should be bright, respectful, and easy to see. A simple photo with your face clearly visible is best.

Try to avoid very dark photos, blurry photos, or group pictures where it is hard to tell which person is you.

A good photo helps your profile feel real and personal.

Second, write a few simple details about yourself.

You do not need to write a long story. Just share enough to introduce yourself.

You might include where you live, what kind of work or ministry you do, what stage of life you are in, or a few things that matter to you.

If you are comfortable, you may also mention your marriage or family life. For example, you might say that you are married, have children, are a grandparent, or value family and church relationships.

These details can make your profile feel warm and personal. But you are not required to share private information. Keep it simple, respectful, and appropriate.

Third, you are welcome to share something about your calling or spiritual journey, if you would like.

If you are a Christian, you may want to briefly mention your testimony, your church background, or why chaplaincy is interesting to you.

If you are still exploring your direction, you can simply share why you are taking this course and what you hope to learn.

For example, you might say that you want to grow in spiritual care, understand chaplaincy better, or explore a possible ministry path.

That is completely fine.

There is no pressure to say more than feels honest to you.

A student profile is not the place to share every detail of your life. It is just a short introduction.

Here is a simple way to think about it:

Be real.
Be respectful.
Be clear.
But do not feel like you need to share everything.

For example, someone might write:

“My name is David, and I live in Michigan. I am married, have three children, and serve in my local church. I joined Christian Leaders Institute because I want to explore chaplaincy and grow in caring for people during important moments of life.”

Or someone else might write:

“My name is Lisa, and I am taking this course during a season of prayer and discernment. I want to learn more about chaplain ministry and understand whether this may be part of God’s calling on my life.”

And another student might write:

“My name is Mark, and I am thankful for the chance to study at Christian Leaders Institute. I want to grow in my faith, strengthen my ministry preparation, and better understand how to serve others through chaplaincy.”

Each of those works well.

Your profile does not need to sound impressive. It just needs to be honest, thoughtful, and appropriate.

So as you create your CLI student profile, remember these three simple ideas:

Upload a clear and friendly picture.

Share a few details about yourself, including family or ministry information if you feel comfortable.

And if you want, say a little about your spiritual journey, your testimony, or why you are taking this course.

Most of all, do not overthink it.

This is just one step in the process, and you can update your profile later as you grow.

We are glad you are here, and we look forward to supporting your learning journey.

Let’s get your profile started.
