In this video, we will talk about why Life Coach Ministers must not reduce people to one issue.

In Life Coaching Ministry, people often come with one presenting concern.

Someone may say, “I have an anger problem.”

Another may say, “My marriage is struggling.”

Another may say, “I lack confidence.”

Another may say, “I am overwhelmed with my aging parents.”

Another may say, “I do not know what God wants me to do next.”

Those concerns are real. But they are rarely the whole story.

A Life Coach Minister must learn to listen beneath the first sentence.

The person who says, “I have an anger problem,” may also be exhausted, ashamed, under financial pressure, spiritually dry, repeating a family pattern, lacking communication skills, carrying grief, or reacting to unresolved wounds.

The person who says, “My marriage is struggling,” may also be dealing with hidden resentment, poor sleep, sexual disappointment, money stress, unspoken expectations, past betrayal, harsh words, isolation from church, or a lack of prayer together.

The person who says, “I lack confidence,” may be carrying old labels, fear of rejection, spiritual confusion, body shame, social anxiety, lack of practice, or a distorted view of calling.

If the Life Coach Minister reduces the person to one issue, the care becomes too shallow.

That is why this course introduces the 15-aspect Life Coaching Ministry Discernment Grid.

This grid helps the Life Coach Minister notice the whole person before God.

The coach does not need to teach the client Dooyeweerd’s full philosophy. The coach does not need to make the session academic. The coach does not need to say, “Now we will go through fifteen aspects.”

Instead, the coach quietly uses the grid as a listening lens.

The point is simple:

Do not reduce a person to psychology only.

Do not reduce a person to sin only.

Do not reduce a person to trauma only.

Do not reduce a person to behavior only.

Do not reduce a person to family systems only.

Do not reduce a person to finances only.

Do not reduce a person to goals only.

Do not reduce a person to spiritual warfare only.

A human being is an embodied soul before God.

In the Organic Humans perspective, the person is a living soul — spiritual and physical together, created by God, fallen in sin, redeemable in Christ, and called into a whole life of discipleship.

That means Life Coaching Ministry must pay attention to the whole person.

Genesis 1:27 says in the World English Bible:

“God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.”

The person in front of the Life Coach Minister is not a project.

The person is an image-bearer.

The Ministry Sciences approach helps the coach ask, “What is really happening here spiritually, relationally, emotionally, physically, practically, morally, socially, and faithfully?”

This does not mean the coach becomes a therapist.

This does not mean the coach diagnoses.

This does not mean the coach handles everything alone.

It means the coach listens wisely, stays in role, asks better questions, and knows when to recommend a course, book, Scripture practice, Bible memory pathway, pastor, counselor, physician, attorney, financial counselor, recovery group, crisis support, or other trusted referral resource.

A Life Coach Minister may ask:

“How often does this happen?”

“Where does this usually happen?”

“What direction is this pattern moving?”

“How are your sleep, health, and stress affecting this?”

“What emotions are present?”

“What story are you telling yourself?”

“What words have shaped you?”

“Who else is affected?”

“What does love require here?”

“What are you trusting when this feels overwhelming?”

Those questions help the person slow down and see more clearly.

What not to do?

Do not rush to fix.

Do not label too quickly.

Do not assume one cause.

Do not spiritualize away practical realities.

Do not treat a person’s emotional experience as the final authority.

Do not use the grid to overwhelm the client.

Use the grid quietly.

Listen broadly.

Discern humbly.

Refer wisely.

And help the person take the next faithful step in Christ.

Life Coaching Ministry is not shallow advice-giving. It is whole-person care, rooted in Scripture, guided by wisdom, and practiced with humility.
