🎥 Video 9A Transcript: Wedding Ministry and the Legacy Church

Hi, I am Henry Reyenga, a Christian Leaders Institute presenter.

In this video, we are talking about wedding ministry and the legacy church.

Many legacy churches have beautiful sanctuaries, fellowship halls, prayerful histories, and community memory. Some of those buildings once hosted many weddings. Couples stood before God, families gathered, vows were spoken, Scripture was read, and marriages began in the presence of Christian community.

Over time, wedding ministry may have faded.

But in many communities, couples still need a meaningful, affordable, Christian place to begin their marriage.

A legacy church can serve them.

Wedding ministry is more than renting a building. It is an opportunity to offer biblical hospitality, marriage preparation, prayer, covenant teaching, ceremony guidance, and ongoing encouragement.

A church that develops wedding ministry can become known again as a place where love, covenant, faith, family, and community are taken seriously.

But wedding ministry requires trained leaders.

A wedding officiant must do more than speak nice words. The officiant helps a couple understand the seriousness of marriage, prepares the ceremony, honors the families, follows local requirements, keeps the service dignified, and points to God’s design for covenant love.

Christian Leaders Institute can train wedding officiants. Christian Leaders Alliance can provide appropriate recognition where training, local endorsement, and ministry readiness are present.

Here is a practical example. A small church has a lovely sanctuary but very few Sunday visitors. The church trains two wedding officiants, creates a wedding hospitality team, prepares a simple marriage encouragement process, and offers the building for Christian weddings. Over time, couples, parents, grandparents, photographers, and guests begin walking through the doors again.

The common mistake is treating weddings only as income.

A better approach is to treat weddings as ministry.

The couple is not a transaction. They are embodied souls beginning a covenant journey.

A legacy church can honor the past by helping new marriages begin with prayer, Scripture, dignity, and gospel-shaped love.

Wedding ministry will not solve every church problem.

But it can open a door for trust, care, discipleship, and renewed community witness.
