Look around your meeting room or worship area. Maybe you are in  someone's home, a room in a church building, or the sanctuary. Now, consider  your group member who has some movement limitations or differences. Imagine yourself with the exact same situation. How easy would it be to move around the meeting room? How would you answer a question posed to the group? What if  you needed to use the bathroom or get a drink? Would you be able to do that?  Would you attend a meeting at a place where you could not use the bathroom?  There is such variety in individuals with movement differences, so it's important  to understand clearly what the member of your small group or church will need  in order to participate. You may need to do some creative brainstorming with  spaces and places in order to make it work for everyone, but it's worth the effort. Once you have tools and procedures in place for the individual, you should also  make sure all group members have their questions answered. It's very common  for people to wonder if it's okay to touch that person when you pray. If that  person is unable to hold hands, is there another way to physically include that  person? Another may wonder if she should bring a particular snack, or prepare  foods in a special way. And others may need to know emergency information,  like what to do if that individual has a seizure. Remember, some people need an actual ramp to enter a room, and others need a ramp of information to enter into a positive relationship with an individual. Be a ramp-building church.
