Welcome to Advanced Christian Wedding Officiant Ministry

I'm Henry Reyenga, founder of Christian Leaders Institute, and I happen to have been a minister for decades, since 1988 when I was ordained in Illinois. I planted churches and pastored churches, then went on to plant Christian Leaders Institute.

One of the things that I loved doing in ministry was becoming and being a wedding officiant, and this class is Advanced Wedding Officiant Ministry. This is the class that takes you past that first class where you get the essential knowledge you need. This class goes on and deepens that.

Maybe you're here because you were asked to do one wedding, and you've taken that first class, and now you want to go deeper. This is excellent. You will go farther, you will learn more, and you will feel more confident as a wedding officiant. Becoming an advanced wedding officiant will help you gain that confidence.

Maybe you're here today because you are a wedding officiant and you are asked to do more than one wedding. In fact, some of you may be thinking, "I'm called to wedding ministry," which I believe is a form of marriage ministry. I am called to do wedding ministry, and that is why you are taking this class. I want to welcome you. This class will help you grow.

Some of you are here because you are ministers already. You serve as a youth minister, a marriage minister, or you're ministering in a church. Maybe you went to seminary, but the seminary did not have much on wedding officiant ministry. I know that because when I went to Calvin Seminary, they didn't even talk about officiating a wedding.

What happened is you just learned it by experience. I remember the trepidation that I felt for many years before each wedding, and I would ask mentors to help me. But there was no wedding officiant class, and there was no advanced wedding officiant class. There was not support for this training, and maybe that is why you are here.

Or maybe you're here because you are a chaplain, a volunteer chaplain, or a professional chaplain. You are here because you have been asked to do weddings, and sometimes the context in which you serve requires that you put on the wedding officiant hat. So you're here to get that training, but you don't just want that basic training. You want more so that you can really minister with sensitivity and a consent-based approach. You want to be not only a chaplain, but someone who can officiate a wedding with professionalism and confidence.

Maybe you are here because you are a Life Coach Minister. Now, the thing about being a Life Coach Minister is it's minister. Not only are you a life coach, but you are a minister. Ministers are often asked to perform ceremonies and participate in weddings.

If you go into the area of marriage life coaching, it makes sense that if you help a couple, maybe you get a referral that says, "Hey, will you talk to my daughter and her fiancé about their upcoming wedding?" Maybe as a life coach, you will study premarital counseling from a life coaching perspective.

It makes sense that you too will be asked to do wedding ceremonies, and this advanced course will help you go farther in your understanding of how to do that with confidence, competence, and credibility.

You know, taking an advanced course always helps you dive deeper, and that's what this course is all about. This is about not just learning the essential knowledge of becoming a wedding officiant, but learning that which takes you to that confidence level where you'll actually welcome and sense that calling from God to not just perform wedding ceremonies, but to actually make a difference in someone's life.
