🎥 Video 3B Transcript: Organic Male and Organic Female in Wedding Ministry
“Hi, I am Henry Reyenga, Founder of Christian Leaders Institute.”
In Wedding Ministry, we speak of the bride as an organic female image-bearer before God and the groom as an organic male image-bearer before God. This language is not meant to create stereotypes. It is meant to honor God’s embodied design.
Genesis 1:27 WEB says, “God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.” Christian marriage begins with this creation truth. Humanity is created in the image of God. Humanity is created male and female. This difference is not a problem to solve. It is a gift to steward under Christ.
The bride does not come to the wedding as an abstract person disconnected from her body, story, emotions, family, calling, and faith. She comes as an organic female image-bearer. The groom does not come as an abstract person disconnected from his body, story, emotions, family, calling, and faith. He comes as an organic male image-bearer.
Together, they prepare to become wife and husband in covenant marriage.
But we must be very careful. Organic male and organic female language must never be used to excuse domination, silence, manipulation, harshness, passivity, or fear. Biblical masculinity is not domination. Biblical femininity is not fearful silence or self-erasure.
Ephesians 5:21 WEB begins the marriage passage with these words: “subjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ.” Before Paul speaks to wives and husbands, he places the entire household under reverence for Christ. The husband is not called to selfish control. He is called to Christlike love. Ephesians 5:25 WEB says, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it.”
That is not domination. That is sacrificial leadership.
The bride is not called to disappear. She is a co-image-bearer before God. Genesis 2:18 WEB says, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.” The word “helper” does not mean inferior. In Scripture, God himself is often described as helper. The woman is not presented as a decoration or servant without a voice. She is a strong, suitable, covenantal companion.
So in Wedding Ministry, we listen for distortions.
If the groom answers every question and the bride never speaks, we notice.
If the bride controls every detail and the groom disappears, we notice.
If either one jokes about “training” the other, we notice.
If family pressure is crushing one of them, we notice.
If sexuality, money, faith, or conflict are avoided completely, we notice.
We do not accuse quickly. We do not embarrass the couple. We do not become therapists. But we create space for truth.
Galatians 3:28 WEB says, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” This does not erase creation as male and female. It declares equal standing in Christ. The bride and groom both stand before God as redeemed image-bearers.
A Wedding Minister honors both difference and dignity. The bride as organic female. The groom as organic male. Both called to Christ. Both called to covenant faithfulness. Both called to become husband and wife under the Lordship of Jesus.
