🎥 Video 3B Transcript: From Wedding Meeting to Pre-marriage Conversation

Hi, I am Henry Reyenga, founder of Christian Leaders Institute.

One of the greatest opportunities in wedding ministry happens before the wedding day. It happens in the first meeting with the bride and groom.

Many couples think they are meeting with you to talk about ceremony details. They want to discuss the venue, the vows, the order of service, the music, and the timing. Those things matter. But a Christian wedding minister sees something deeper.

The wedding meeting can become a premarriage conversation.

That does not mean you turn every meeting into a long counseling session. It means you learn to ask wise, simple, ministry-shaped questions that help the couple think about the marriage, not just the wedding.

You might ask, “What do you believe your vows mean?”
You might ask, “How do you handle conflict when you disagree?”
You might ask, “What have you learned from your families about marriage?”
You might ask, “How do faith, prayer, and Christian community fit into your future?”
You might ask, “What kind of household do you hope to build together?”

These questions open doors.

Some couples will answer easily. Some will pause. Some will realize they have not talked about these things. That pause is not failure. That pause may be the beginning of wisdom.

A premarriage conversation helps the bride and groom connect romance to covenant. They begin to see that love is not only something they feel. Love is something they promise, practice, protect, and grow.

This also helps you design a better ceremony. When you understand their story, their hopes, and their spiritual openness, your ceremony becomes more personal and more faithful.

But remember your role. You are not trying to solve every issue. You are not acting beyond your training. If you discover abuse, coercion, addiction, severe conflict, untreated trauma, or serious mental health concerns, you should involve a pastor, mentor, counselor, or appropriate professional.

One common mistake is to avoid deeper questions because the couple only asked for a ceremony. But many couples are more open than you think. They may be waiting for someone kind and wise to help them think seriously.

The wedding meeting is not just administration. It is ministry. It is a doorway into covenant preparation.
