🎥 Video 12C: Relentless Reliance and Sent into the World
Hi, I am Haley Steiner, a CLI presenter.
This course is taught by Professor Brian DeCook.
As this course comes to a close, remember this simple truth.
You will face conflict again.
You may fail again.
You may say the wrong thing again.
You may feel the Wildfire rising again.
But failure is not the end of your formation.
The Christian life is a life of returning to Christ.
Jesus said in John 15, “Remain in me.” He also said, “Apart from me you can do nothing.”
That is the heart of relentless reliance.
Relentless reliance means I do not trust my personality, my cleverness, my education, my experience, or my emotional control as my deepest source.
I return to Jesus.
Again and again.
When I am angry, I return.
When I am afraid, I return.
When I have sinned, I return.
When I have been sinned against, I return.
When I do not know what to say, I return.
When I must set a boundary, I return.
When I must confess, forgive, confront, wait, pray, or walk away from danger, I return.
The Peacefire is not a place of flawless performance.
It is the place where the presence, truth, grace, wisdom, and power of God meet us in real conflict.
Then Jesus sends us.
In John 20:21, Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”
That means your relationships matter.
Your marriage matters.
Your family matters.
Your church matters.
Your workplace matters.
Your neighborhood matters.
Your enemies and opponents matter.
You are not sent as a perfect person.
You are sent as a dependent disciple.
A person learning to confess faster.
Forgive more deeply.
Listen more carefully.
Tell the truth more lovingly.
Set boundaries more faithfully.
Bless instead of curse.
Overcome evil with good.
The final practice in this course is to create a PeaceSmart rule of life.
Not a long list of impossible promises.
A simple way of returning to Jesus when conflict comes.
A prayer.
A pause.
A Scripture.
A confession practice.
A forgiveness practice.
A wise boundary practice.
A 1221 practice.
Before finishing this topic, ask: What rhythm will help me return to Jesus when conflict ignites?
Write it down.
Pray it honestly.
Then go in peace.
You are sent into the world as a follower of Jesus Christ.
