๐ Worksheet 12.5: My PeaceSmart Rule of Life and Thirty-Day 1221 Practice
Purpose
This worksheet helps you create a simple PeaceSmart rule of life for conflict. A rule of life is a practical rhythm that helps you return to Jesus when conflict ignites.
You will also create a thirty-day practice based on Romans 12:21:
โDonโt be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.โ
โ Romans 12:21, WEB
This is the 1221 Practice.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is returning to Christ again and again.
Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You have met me throughout this course with truth, grace, correction, and hope. Teach me to return to You when conflict ignites. Keep me from the Wildfire of bitterness, revenge, fear, pride, gossip, and control. Form in me the Jesus Mindset. Help me overcome evil with good in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Part 1: My Conflict Landscape
Think about the relationships where conflict, tension, fear, resentment, or avoidance still appear in your life.
Relationship Areas
Check any areas where you currently need the Peacefire.
โ Marriage or close friendship
โ Parent-child relationship
โ Adult family relationship
โ Church relationship
โ Ministry team
โ Workplace
โ Neighbor or community relationship
โ Former friend
โ Opponent or critic
โ Online or public conflict

One Conflict I Want to Bring to Jesus
Person or situation:
What happened or what keeps happening?
What is hardest for me about this conflict?
What Wildfire reaction am I most tempted toward?
โ Anger
โ Revenge
โ Gossip
โ Withdrawal
โ Sarcasm
โ Bitterness
โ Control
โ Fear
โ People-pleasing
โ Blame-shifting
โ Self-defense
โ Avoidance
โ Other: ___________________________
Part 2: My 1221 Practice
Romans 12:21 says:
โDonโt be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.โ
โ Romans 12:21, WEB
Use these four movements when conflict ignites.
1. Name the Evil or Pressure Honestly
Christian love does not require denial.
What evil, sin, pressure, temptation, or unhealthy pattern needs to be named honestly?
This may include hurtful speech, manipulation, gossip, pride, resentment, intimidation, avoidance, dishonesty, fear, or another real issue.
What must I not pretend is okay?
2. Refuse to Add Wildfire
Ask: โHow might I be tempted to add evil to evil?โ
I need to refuse:
โ Retaliation
โ Gossip
โ Contempt
โ Silent punishment
โ Exaggeration
โ Harsh words
โ Manipulation
โ Revenge fantasies
โ Rehearsing the offense
โ Assuming the worst
โ Using Scripture as a weapon
โ Avoiding what God is asking me to do
โ Other: ___________________________
One Wildfire response I will refuse with Godโs help:
3. Ask What Good Looks Like
Good is not always soft. Good may be gentle, courageous, truthful, patient, protective, or firm.
In this situation, good may look like:
โ Prayer
โ Silence instead of retaliation
โ A truthful conversation
โ A specific confession
โ Forgiveness
โ A wise boundary
โ Refusing gossip
โ Blessing an opponent
โ Seeking counsel
โ Reporting danger or wrongdoing
โ Creating distance for safety or wisdom
โ Serving faithfully without proving myself
โ Other: ___________________________
What good might Jesus be calling me to practice?
4. Take One Faithful Step
You may not be able to fix the whole relationship today. But you can often take one faithful step.
My next faithful step is:
When will I take this step?
Who can pray with me or help me discern wisely?
Part 3: Safety and Wisdom Check
Before planning any conversation, confrontation, or repair step, pause for safety.
Does this conflict include any of the following?
โ Violence
โ Threats
โ Coercion
โ Stalking
โ Sexual abuse
โ Child abuse
โ Criminal behavior
โ Severe intimidation
โ Exploitation
โ Addiction-related danger
โ Fear of physical harm
โ Ongoing manipulation with serious harm
โ None of these
If serious danger, abuse, coercion, threats, exploitation, or criminal conduct is present, do not use this worksheet as a substitute for outside help. Seek appropriate protection, emergency services, legal guidance, pastoral care, licensed professional support, mandatory reporting where required, or specialized abuse and safety resources.
What outside help or protection may be needed?
Part 4: My PeaceSmart Rule of Life
A PeaceSmart rule of life is a simple plan for returning to Jesus before, during, and after conflict.
Keep it short enough to remember when emotions are high.
My PeaceSmart Rule
1. Pause
When conflict ignites, I will pause by:
โ Taking one slow breath
โ Praying silently before speaking
โ Asking for time before responding
โ Slowing my body and voice
โ Writing before speaking
โ Other: ___________________________
My pause practice:
2. Pray
My short Peacefire prayer will be:
โ โLord Jesus, keep me in the Peacefire.โ
โ โHoly Spirit, guide my next faithful step.โ
โ โFather, help me overcome evil with good.โ
โ โJesus, help me tell the truth in love.โ
โ โLord, show me what is mine to do.โ
โ Other: ___________________________
My prayer:
3. Remember Scripture
Choose one Scripture to carry into conflict.
โ Romans 12:21 โ Overcome evil with good
โ James 1:19โ20 โ Be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger
โ John 15:5 โ Apart from Jesus, we can do nothing
โ Philippians 2:5 โ Have the mind of Christ
โ Romans 12:18 โ Live at peace as far as it depends on you
โ Ephesians 4:32 โ Forgive as God forgave you in Christ
โ Other: ___________________________
My Scripture anchor:
4. Refuse Wildfire
When I am triggered, I will refuse:
5. Practice the Good
Instead of adding Wildfire, I will practice:
6. Review and Return
After conflict, I will ask:
Did I return to Jesus?
Did I add Wildfire?
What do I need to confess?
What do I need to forgive?
What boundary may be needed?
What is my next faithful step?
My review practice:
Part 5: My Thirty-Day 1221 Practice

โ How I talk about the person to others
โ Other: ___________________________
End-of-week reflection:
What did I learn about the Wildfire in me?

This week, practice pausing and praying before reacting.
My daily Peacefire prayer will be:
End-of-week reflection:
Where did I return to Jesus instead of reacting from the flesh?
Week 3: Bless and Do Good
This week, practice blessing instead of cursing.
This does not mean approving sin or removing boundaries. It means refusing hatred and asking God for the personโs true good.
One blessing prayer I can pray:
Lord, I ask You to ____________________________________________
One good action I can take without enabling harm:
End-of-week reflection:
How did blessing or doing good change my heart or response?
Week 4: Take a Faithful Step
This week, take one wise and faithful step.
โ Confess my part
โ Ask for forgiveness
โ Speak truth gently
โ Stop gossip
โ Set a boundary
โ Seek wise counsel
โ Pray for the person daily
โ Serve without proving myself
โ Release vengeance to God
โ Clarify what reconciliation would require

Part 6: My Final Commitment
Complete the following statements.
When conflict ignites, I want to become the kind of person who:
With Godโs help, I will refuse:
With Godโs help, I will practice:

By the grace of Jesus Christ, I will not be overcome by evil. I will return to the Peacefire and seek to overcome evil with good.

Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Send me into my relationships with Your peace. Teach me to pause, pray, remember Your Word, refuse the Wildfire, and practice the good You call me to do. When I fail, bring me back quickly. When I am hurt, keep me from bitterness. When I must speak, give me truth and love. When I must set a boundary, give me wisdom and courage. When I face opposition, help me overcome evil with good. Amen.
