🎥 Video 1A: Welcome to Starting a Peacefire Ministry Practice

Hi, I am Haley Steiner, a CLI presenter.

This course is taught by Professor Brian DeCook.

Welcome to Starting a Peacefire Ministry Practice.

This course is about helping Christian leaders build a real ministry practice for people who are facing conflict.

Conflict is not rare. It happens in marriages, families, churches, ministries, workplaces, neighborhoods, and leadership teams. Sometimes conflict begins with a single word. Sometimes it begins with a misunderstanding. Sometimes it grows out of years of pain, fear, control, resentment, or disappointment.

When conflict catches fire, people often react quickly. They defend themselves. They accuse. They withdraw. They gossip. They rehearse the hurt. They try to control the outcome. They look for someone who will take their side.

That is Wildfire.

Wildfire spreads harm. It may use religious words, but it is often fueled by fear, anger, pride, bitterness, revenge, shame, or self-protection.

Peacefire is different.

Peacefire is the place of conscious reliance on God’s presence in the middle of conflict. It is not passivity. It is not pretending harm did not happen. It is not forcing people into unsafe reconciliation.

Peacefire means returning to Christ before reacting. It means listening for the Holy Spirit. It means telling the truth in love. It means discerning the next faithful step.

A Peacefire Ministry Practice helps people do that.

This course is not only about learning conflict ideas. It is about starting a practice. Week by week, you will build tools, language, policies, session plans, referral pathways, and a launch plan.

You may serve through a Soul Center, a local church, a chaplaincy setting, a parish, an online ministry, or a community-based ministry. The setting may vary, but the calling remains the same: help people navigate conflict in Christ.

A Peacefire Coach Minister does not guarantee reconciliation. The minister does not act as a therapist, attorney, investigator, crisis worker, or formal mediator unless separately trained and authorized.

Instead, the Peacefire Coach Minister offers prayerful listening, Scripture-rooted encouragement, wise questions, consent-based coaching, careful boundaries, and trusted referral when more help is needed.

Jesus said in John 15 that apart from Him we can do nothing. That truth shapes this entire course.

We do not become Peacefire ministers by becoming clever conflict managers. We become Peacefire ministers by abiding in Christ and helping others return to Him.

As you begin, ask yourself this question:

Where has God already placed me among people who need help navigating conflict faithfully?

That place may become the beginning of your Peacefire Ministry Practice.
