Hi, I am Haley Steiner, a CLI presenter.

This course is taught by Professor Brian DeCook.

In this final topic, we bring the Peacefire Ministry Practice toward launch and commissioning.

We begin with the 1221 practice.

The 1221 practice comes from Romans 12:21: “Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

This is more than a memory verse. It is a ministry ethos. It is a way of serving when conflict is real, when people are difficult, when reconciliation is refused, when trust is damaged, and when the minister feels tempted to react from the Wildfire.

A Peacefire Coach Minister will meet people who are hurt, angry, ashamed, defensive, bitter, confused, fearful, or controlling. Some will want help. Some will want confirmation that they are right. Some will want the minister to take sides. Some will want reconciliation too quickly. Others will refuse any next step that requires humility.

The 1221 practice reminds the minister not to be overcome.

Do not be overcome by anger.

Do not be overcome by another person’s urgency.

Do not be overcome by gossip.

Do not be overcome by manipulation.

Do not be overcome by the desire to fix everything.

Do not be overcome by discouragement when people do not choose peace.

Instead, overcome evil with good.

In Peacefire Ministry, good does not mean passivity. It does not mean pretending harm did not happen. It does not mean allowing unsafe access. It does not mean silence when truth is needed.

Good means responding in Christ.

Good may look like prayerful listening.

Good may look like a safety referral.

Good may look like a confession.

Good may look like helping someone prepare a difficult conversation.

Good may look like a faithful firebreak.

Good may look like refusing to join gossip.

Good may look like saying, “This situation needs another kind of support.”

The 1221 practice is especially important when a Peacefire Coach Minister faces opposition. Some people may misunderstand the ministry. Some may be disappointed that the minister will not take control. Some may want guaranteed reconciliation. Some may become frustrated when the minister keeps role clarity.

The minister returns to Romans 12:21.

Do not be overcome.

Overcome evil with good.

This is not done by willpower alone. It is done through reliance on Christ.

A Peacefire Ministry Practice must be built on the same gospel it teaches. Jesus overcame evil not by becoming evil, not by returning insult for insult, not by grasping for control, but through faithful obedience, sacrificial love, truth, mercy, and resurrection power.

As you prepare to launch your practice, ask yourself:

What forms of evil or Wildfire am I most tempted to be overcome by?

Where do I need to practice the good of Christ before I ask others to do the same?

The 1221 practice is not only for your clients. It is for you.

A Peacefire Coach Minister returns again and again to Christ, so that the ministry itself becomes a living witness: evil does not have the final word. Christ does.
