Video 1A: Welcome to Being a Christian Single Mother

Hi, I am Haley Steiner, a CLI presenter.

This course is taught by Rev. Henry Reyenga and Attorney/Pastor Brian DeCook.

Welcome to Being a Christian Single Mother.

This course was created for women who are raising children without a present husband in the home, or while navigating complex parenting realities. Your story may include widowhood, divorce, abandonment, betrayal, an unplanned pregnancy, a difficult co-parenting situation, or another path you did not expect.

You may feel strong today. You may feel exhausted. You may feel grateful for your children and still overwhelmed by the weight of responsibility. You may love being a mother and still wonder how you are going to manage work, money, emotions, church, family, and the future.

This course begins with one clear truth: you are not a problem to be fixed. You are a woman made in the image of God. You are a mother entrusted with precious children. You are a disciple of Jesus Christ. Your marital status does not define your worth. Your past does not erase your calling. Your current pressure does not mean God has left you.

Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” That is where we begin. Not with shame. Not with panic. Not with pressure to explain everything. Not with a demand that you become strong overnight. We begin with grace in Christ.

Throughout this course, you will be invited to grow in faith, motherhood, daily stability, support, boundaries, confidence, sexual self-care, and hope. You will learn practical tools for loving your children, building a support circle, creating home rhythms, communicating wisely, handling grief and loneliness, and discerning future relationships with patience and wisdom.

This course also honors you as a whole woman. Motherhood is a beautiful calling, but it does not erase your womanhood. You may have hopes for future love, marriage, companionship, and a godly life partner. Those hopes can be brought to Christ without shame. At the same time, your value is already secure in Him.

This course is not counseling, legal advice, custody guidance, financial advising, sex therapy, or crisis intervention. When those kinds of help are needed, seeking qualified support is wise and faithful.

As you begin, you do not need to tell your whole story. You do not need to prove that you are okay. You only need to take the next faithful step with Christ.

Reflection question: What would change if you began this course from grace instead of shame?

Gentle next step: Before moving on, take one quiet breath and say, “Lord Jesus, meet me here.”
