Video 9A: Abiding When You Are Tired

Many single mothers want a deeper life with God, but their days feel full before they even begin. There may be children to wake, lunches to pack, work to manage, bills to think about, rides to arrange, messages to answer, and emotions to carry.

Sometimes spiritual growth can feel like one more thing on an already crowded list.

But Jesus does not invite tired mothers into another performance. He invites them into abiding.

In John 15:4, Jesus says, “Remain in me, and I in you.” Spiritual growth begins with connection to Christ. It is not first about doing more. It is about staying near Him in the middle of real life.

A tired mother may not have long quiet mornings. She may not have uninterrupted study time. She may not always feel focused during prayer. But she can still turn her heart toward Christ.

Abiding may look like whispering, “Lord, help me,” while making breakfast. It may look like reading one verse before bed. It may look like breathing deeply and remembering, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” It may look like singing worship music in the car or praying over a child while folding laundry.

God is not disappointed by small beginnings.

Psalm 23 reminds us that the Lord is our shepherd. He leads, restores, guides, and stays near. A shepherd understands weakness. A shepherd does not shame a weary sheep for needing care.

For a Christian single mother, spiritual growth may begin with this truth: Christ is present in the ordinary places of your life. He is present in the kitchen, the car, the school pickup line, the workplace, the bedtime routine, and the quiet moment after everyone else is asleep.

This week, you are not being asked to build a perfect spiritual routine. You are being invited to notice where Jesus is already near and to choose one simple way to remain connected to Him.

You are a mother of honor. You are a God-designed woman. You are not less spiritual because you are tired. You are invited to come to Christ honestly, with your weariness, your love for your children, your unfinished tasks, and your need for grace.

Reflection Question: Where do you most need to remember that Jesus is near in your ordinary day?

Gentle Next Step: Choose one moment today when you will pause, breathe, and quietly say, “Jesus, help me abide in You.”
