Video 1A: Welcome to People Skill Confidence

Hi, I am Haley Steiner, a CLI presenter.

This course is taught by Rev. Henry Reyenga and Attorney/Pastor Brian DeCook.

Welcome to People Skill Confidence.

This Christian Growth Course is about becoming more confident as an organic human in Christ.

An organic human is a God-created person, made in the image of God, with both a spiritual and physical nature. You are an embodied soul. You are spiritual and physical before God. Your spiritual nature thinks, believes, trusts, worships, hopes, loves, and speaks inwardly. Your bodily nature also participates in thinking through your brain, nervous system, senses, habits, memories, emotions, energy, posture, and words. You are one whole person who thinks, feels, speaks to yourself, speaks to others, relates, chooses, learns, and grows before God.

You are not a machine. You are not a social performance. You are not a brand. You are not your most awkward moment. You are not merely what others think of you. You are a person created by God and being formed in Christ.

People skill confidence is not about becoming impressive. It is not about becoming the loudest person in the room. It is not about learning tricks to get people to like you.

It is about growing in Christlike presence.

Many people feel unsure in conversations. Some talk too much when they are nervous. Some go silent. Some avoid people. Some feel awkward after church, at work, in family gatherings, in ministry settings, or when meeting someone new.

This course begins with grace.

God created you. Christ is forming you. The Holy Spirit can help you grow in love, listening, questions, words, boundaries, courage, and peace.

In this course, we will talk about agape love. Agape love is Christ-shaped love that seeks the true good of another person before God. This kind of love helps us listen without manipulating, speak without attacking, ask questions without interrogating, and set boundaries without becoming cold.

You will also learn to receive yourself rightly in Christ. Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself. That does not mean self-worship. It also does not mean self-hatred. It means you can receive yourself as someone created by God, loved in Christ, accountable to God, and called to love others.

People skill confidence grows slowly through practice.

You will not need to become someone else. You will learn to become more faithful as yourself before God.

This week, begin with this simple truth:

I am an organic human created by God and being formed in Christ. I am an embodied soul with spiritual and physical life before God. I think, feel, speak inwardly, speak outwardly, relate, choose, learn, and grow as one whole person in Christ.

Reflection question: Where do you most want your people skill confidence to grow?

Gentle next step: Ask God to help you enter this course with hope instead of shame.
