Worksheet 1.4: My Starting Inner Conversation Inventory

Private Participant Worksheet

This worksheet is for your private reflection. You are not required to upload it or show it to anyone. Use it gently and honestly.

The goal is not to judge yourself. The goal is to begin noticing the inner conversation you bring before God.

This worksheet will become part of your private Resilient Self-Conversation Portfolio.

Purpose of This Worksheet

In Topic 1, you are learning that you are an organic human created by God. You are not a machine, a label, a wound, a failure, a temptation, or a problem to be fixed.

You are an embodied soul before God.

Your inner conversation matters because the sentences you repeat inside can shape your emotions, choices, identity, relationships, prayer, habits, sleep, and hope.

This worksheet helps you begin an honest inventory of the inward sentences you often hear.

Movement 1 — Pause and Pray

Find a quiet moment if possible. Take a slow breath. Place this exercise before God.

Pray:

Lord Jesus, I bring my inner conversation before You. Help me notice without shame. Help me name what is true and what is not true. Help me welcome Scripture and the Holy Spirit into the places where fear, shame, sadness, pressure, temptation, bitterness, or discouragement have been speaking loudly. Amen.

Now write one sentence of surrender:

Lord, I am willing to notice _______________________________ with You.

Movement 2 — Notice and Name

Part A — The Sentences I Often Repeat Inside

Write the exact sentences that often run through your mind. Do not polish them. Do not make them sound more spiritual. Be honest and gentle.

Choose one Scripture that speaks to this inner conversation.

You may use one of these or another passage:

My shame is not my name.

I am not a machine; I am an organic human before God.

In Christ, I can take one faithful step.

My past has shaped me, but it does not own me.

There is no condemnation for me in Christ Jesus.

The new sentence I will practice is:

Movement 4 — One Faithful Step

A faithful step does not need to be dramatic. It should be honest, realistic, wise, and possible.

Choose one step that fits your situation.

Today, with Christ, I can:

Pray honestly for two minutes
Read one Scripture slowly
Take three slow breaths
Drink water
Take a short walk
Turn off my phone before bed
Ask a safe person for prayer
Complete one responsibility
Rest without self-contempt
Confess one sin to God
Apologize where appropriate
Set a wise boundary
Stop rehearsing one resentment
Write one gratitude
Seek pastoral support
Seek professional support if needed
