Fruit Of The Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.
Matthew 7:16-20 By their fruit you will recognize them…Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit…Thus by their fruit you will recognize them.
With A Calling And A Walk
The Connections
1 John 1:6-7 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Self-Awareness And Spiritual Discernment
2 Corinthians 5:16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
1 John 4:1-3 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,… This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God…
Open And Confident In Sharing Governing And Leadership
Exodus 18:21-23 But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. 22 Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you. 23 If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied.”
Secure In Relationship To Others
Colossians 1:28 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.
Have A “Do What Ever It Takes” Mentality
Colossian 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.
They expect behavior of others that they don’t expect of themselves.
Respectful Of Others Persons
1 Peter 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
Watch for those who see others as inferior to themselves. Watch for that in yourself. God may use people you never would have thought of, and you should always be respectful of who God brings.
Is Humble And Rejects Favoritism
Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
James 2:9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.
Are Stable
Ephesians 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
Angry leaders are a disaster in a church plant!
With Honest Intentions
Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.
Not of those who say one thing to some people, but different things to others.
Encouragers In Developing People
Acts 4:36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement)…
Acts 9:27 But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.
Are Transparent
Leaders need to lead with open intentions that avoid the traps of manipulation.
1 Thessalonians 2:3 For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you.
Love Input
Early church leaders were open to ideas from God.
Acts 15:7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.
Leaders who surround themselves with “Yes” men or women.
Are People Smart
Committed to grow in being “people smart”
Colossians 4:6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
