Reading: Second Principle - Stay in the Here and Now with One Issue at a Time
SECOND PRINCIPLE: STAY IN THE HERE AND NOW/ONE ISSUE AT A TIME
This
is very important because today's problems are enough to deal with. The
Bible is very specific about this. Matthew 6:34 states: "Therefore do
not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” Also,
Ephesians 4:31-32 states: "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,
brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and
compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ
God forgave you.”
Grudges
Based on past resentments, the affected person's ability to see the reality of the current situation will be impaired.
Grudges create bitter roots, and do not allow positive fruit of the Spirit.
What most grudge holders do not understand, is how much strain a grudge puts on themselves both mentally and emotionally.
Within grudges being so emotionally tied in nature, a person can be stuck and unable to move forward with conflict resolution.
Must keep one issue on the discussion table at time.
This will eliminate the "drowning” effect, which is most often experienced by men, when woman are bringing up more than one issue at a time.
This is because the brain of a man and the brain of a woman function differently in terms of emotions.
