Reading: Marriage Wildfires by Brian DeCook
Marriage Wildfires
1. Because marriage was established to reflect the mystery of Jesus Christ and the church, the enemy hates godly marriages.
2. By attacking Christian marriages, the enemy can hinder an entire family from pursuing relationships of relentless reliance on Jesus Christ.
3. The firetraps of offense occur more in marriage than in most other relationships.
4. Every Christian marriage will experience seasons when one or both spouses will fail to love/submit to one another.
5. In addition to the Lord's purposes of deliverance, transformation, restoration, and destroying the devil's works, the Lord has an additional purpose for spouses involved in marriage conflict.
6. For wives, the opportunity at the Peacefire is to ask the Lord, "How do you want me to submit to my husband in this situation?”
7. For husbands, the opportunity at the Peacefire when offense occurs is to ask the Lord, "How do you want me to love my wife in this situation?”
8. When the Lord reveals what He wants you to do, ask Him for the grace to do it in the power of the Holy Spirit.
9. The opportunity to love and submit to one another is of greater importance than the opportunity to be right, to get your way, or to win an argument.
10. Wildfire accelerants often manifest in marital conflict. When they are exposed, take them to the Lord at the Peacefire and let Him remove the anger, heal the wounds from the past and replace the bitterness with his love, grace, mercy, and peace.
