1. Marriage is a reflection of the great mystery concerning Christ and the church. Eph. 5:31-32
2. In the Garden of Eden, God planted the tree of the knowledge of good and evil among the trees of the Garden. God instructed Adam to not eat of the fruit of this tree and that if he did eat the fruit, he would certainly die. Gen 2:9, 17
3. God caused a deep sleep to come upon Adam, he opened his side and removed a piece of Adam and closed the opening with flesh. Gen. 2:21
4. God formed Eve from what He removed from Adam's side and He brought her to Adam. She was formed to be a suitable helper. Gen 2:22
5. Adam declared, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man.” Gen. 2:23
