FOUNDATIONS

The Foundation of Our Life are Beliefs

Why are Beliefs Important?

Drive what we value

How we see life

What we act upon

Our Beliefs are Guiding Principles That Tell Us

What is right and wrong

What we stand for

Why we do what we do

Our Beliefs Affect Our Destiny

What do Christians Believe?

God is our Creator. He has a Purpose for Us

Jesus is the Son of God, our Savior

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life – No Man Goes to God Except Through Him

The Bible is the Word of God

We Will Spend Eternity In Heaven or Hell

Non-Christians Believe

There is another way to God beside Jesus

We are the product of evolution

There are no absolute morals, truth, right or wrong. Everything is relative

In chance and luck. There is no purpose in life

Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!

Foundational Beliefs
Determine Our Direction in Life

In Order to Change,
We Must Change Our Beliefs

"Our beliefs are like unquestioned commands, telling us how things are, what's possible and what's impossible, what we can and can not do.  They shape every action, every thought, and every feeling that we experience.  As a result, changing our belief systems is central to making any real and lasting change in our lives.  We must develop a sense of certainty that we can and will meet the new standards before we actually do."

- Tony Robbins

The Foundational Beliefs
That Really Matter

Our Purpose in Life

God’s Will

Our Calling in Life

Our Values

Our Priorities

1. Discover Your Purpose in Life

What is Your Purpose in Life?

A Purpose is the Reason for Being – Why Something Exists.

If we believe that God created us, then it is logical to believe that God being the Creator, created us with a purpose.

Knowing Your Purpose in Life

"Knowing your purpose gives meaning to your life.“

"Knowing your purpose simplifies your life.  It defines what you do and what you don't do.  Your purpose becomes the standard you use to evaluate which activities are essential and which aren't.  Without a clear purpose you have no foundation on which you base decisions, allocate your time, and use your resources.”

"Knowing your purpose focuses your life.  It concentrates your effort and energy and what's important.  You become effective by being selective.”

“Without a clear purpose, you will keep changing directions, jobs, relationships, churches, or other externals - hoping each change will settle the confusion or fill the emptiness in your heart.“    -   Rick Warren

2. Understand God’s Will

Do you know what is God’s Will?

“See that ye walk… as wise, redeeming the time… understanding what the will of the Lord is.“

Ephesians 5:15-17

We need to understand God’s Will so that we will not waste time or life itself, but instead lead a life full of purpose.

What is God’s Will?

How Can We Know God’s Will?

“Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, a perfect will of God.“

Romans 12:2

To understand God’s Will we must renew our minds. This means open our heart and mind to a new way of thinking.

What is God’s Will Regarding Money?

God’s Will is Prosperity

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.“   – 3 John 2

God’s Will is Success

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.“   – Joshua 1:7-8

God’s Will is Wealth

“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.“   Deuteronomy 8:18

"The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.“ – Proverbs 10:22

What is God’s Will Regarding Money?

God’s Will is Abundance

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.“   – 2 Corinthians 9:8

" For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;  A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;  A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.“ – Deuteronomy 8:7-10

God’s Will Regarding Money

God's will is not a mystery.  The Bible clearly tells me what God's will is.

God's will is that no one should perish, but that all men should have eternal life through Jesus Christ.

God's will is for me to prosper and have more than enough.

God wants me to be successful in all I do.

God gives me the power to get wealth.

God's will is that I should have sufficiency and abundance in all things.

God's blessing is the reward for living in obedience and doing His will.

BREAKTHROUGH THOUGHT: God's will is for me to prosper and have more than enough. - ALFC

Ownership vs. Stewardship

1. Recognize God’s Ownership

"The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.” – Haggai 2:8

“For all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.“   – 1 Chronicles 29:14

2. Our Role: Stewardship

“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.“   – Genesis 2:15

"Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.  Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.“– 1 Corinthians 4:1,2

Ownership vs. Stewardship

3. Faithfulness is Required

“And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?  Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.“ – Luke 12:42-43

“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” – Matthew 25:14-30

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.  If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?”  - Luke 16:9-13

4. Understand the Law of Sowing and Reaping

“He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.“   – 2 Corinthians 9:6

Money, Wealth and Riches

What is Money?

Money is the medium by which earthly success is measured.

Money makes possible the enjoyment of the best the earth affords.

Money is plentiful for those who understand the simple laws which govern its acquisition.

Money is governed today by the same laws which controlled it when prosperous men thronged the streets of Babylon, six thousand years ago.

Money, Wealth and Riches

What is Wealth?

Wealth is a power.  With wealth many things are possible. One may ornament the home with the richest of furnishings.  One may sail the distant seas.  One may feast on the delicacies of far lands.  One may buy the ornaments of the gold worker and the stone polisher.  One may build a temple for God.  One may do all these things and many others in which there is delight for the senses and gratification for the soul. – George S. Clason

"Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.“ – Psalms 62:10

Breakthrough Thoughts

God is teaching me the process, not the event, to prosper.

God has not determined who will be rich or poor.

God has given us laws to determine who will prosper and who will not.

Neither poverty or

prosperity are an accident. - ALFC

Understanding your values gives you a sense of clarity about your life’s purpose. It gives you a sense of inner peace.
