Session # 11 Overcoming the Overwhelming

The longer I live, the more I realize the how impactful a positive mind set can have on your life. In many ways it is more important than several things that come to mind. Think about it, there is extraordinarily little you can do about your past mistakes other than learn from them.  Your education only means something if you put it to use and recognize there is always more to learn. Think about your circumstances and reflect on how you spend your time, your energy, your money and your thoughts.  Do you take time for thinking breaks?  They can be priceless.

Your failures always produced a result, so are they failures?  Hopefully, you learned lessons from them that will last a lifetime if you move beyond them using what your learned to do better next time.

Stop worrying about what people think of you or your ideas. It is far more valuable to set your mind on the possibilities that you were provided when God made you. Your mindset is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill if you remember to adjust. Correct errors and move on. Be ready for right things and right opportunities will come your way.  Of course, you need to be able to recognize them.  Mindset requires thinking and readiness.  Too many people spend years trying to find their purpose when they need to live out what they are called to do, what’s right while forsaking what’s wrong. Your mindset is your contribution to the future of a company you work for or with or own.  You contribute to your place of worship with you time and energy and giving back a portion of the blessings you receive. Not doing so is simply not right. Your home is more than a dwelling because of your mindset, keep your family top of mind.  The remarkable thing is your mindset is a choice you make every day when you wake up on this side of the dirt.

Consider this, the past is the past, people will continue to walk in and out of your life with opinions that are different than yours. They will choose to act differently than you, they have their mindset, you have yours.

Each of us gets one shot at this life.  How much of it are you going to use to meet your obligation to pay it forward? Would you agree, the next generation needs a chance to add to God’s creation.  He created you and me with a unique and genuine longing to love, be loved and make a worthwhile life out of the messes we create.  We are fortunate we do not have to do it alone. We have each other to learn from to lean on and raise up to the challenges.  It’s nice to know we can be all we can be together and we’re never alone. Your difference and mine makes a difference when our mind is set on doing our best.
