Students can complete any of the courses at their own pace. Many courses have suggested time periods assigned to units, but these are just suggestions. The courses contain all the resources (videos, readings, PowerPoints, etc.); no textbooks will need to be purchased. There are three types of courses offered at CLI:

College-Level Courses (units/credits): Courses that meet CLI’s statement of academic rigor, align with its mission, meet CLI’s guidelines for courses and quizzes/assignments, and thus are issued units (to CDS students) or credits (to LES students) upon completion. College-level courses cover broader topics and explore many facets of that topic. A full-length course has a 180-day enrollment period where students can study at their own pace.

Students may generally enroll in up to 18 credits at a time.

The course categories cover Bible, Theology, Ministry, General Studies, and Enterprise.

Module Courses: Modules are assigned instead of credits to courses that are primarily utilized in the CDS for Alliance credential training requirements or for remedial courses. They are not transferable for credit because they do not meet the process, requirements, and/or academic rigor of a college-level course. They are generally very practical and applicable to ordination preparation and minister training required for Alliance credentials.

Mini-Courses: A miniature course that can be completed within 1 to 5 hours. Mini-courses have discussion forums instead of quizzes that allow students to converse and learn from each other's experiences; it is graded for completion. Mini courses are not applicable to receive modules or units but can be taken in a wide variety of areas and topics as an additional resource for students.
