MatchMaking and Client Starting Point Tool
Here is a self-assessment that a matchmaker minister can use to help clients and the matchmaker get a starting point:
Module 1: Self-Awareness
- What are my values, beliefs, and preferences? What is important to me in a relationship? What are my deal breakers?
- How do I communicate best? Am I a verbal communicator, a physical communicator, or a written communicator?
- How do I relate to others in close relationships? Am I anxious, avoidant, or secure?
- What are my strengths and weaknesses? What am I good at? What could I improve on?
- What is my positive self-image? Do I believe in myself and my ability to find love?
Module 2: Dating Skills
- How do I create an effective dating profile? What information should I include? What should I leave out?
- How do I write effective messages? What should I say? How should I say it?
- How do I prepare for dates? What should I wear? What should I talk about? How should I handle difficult situations?
- How do I be myself? Don't try to be someone you're not. People can spot a fake a mile away.
- How do I be respectful? Treat everyone with respect, even if you're not interested in them romantically.
- How do I have fun? Dating should be enjoyable. If you're not having fun, it will show.
Module 3: Relationship Skills
- How do I communicate effectively? Communication is essential for any healthy relationship. Learn how to listen actively, share your feelings, and resolve conflict in a constructive way.
- How do I compromise? No two people are exactly alike. In order to have a successful relationship, you need to be willing to compromise.
- How do I resolve conflict? Conflict is inevitable in any relationship. Learn how to resolve conflict in a healthy and constructive way.
- How do I support my partner? Be there for your partner through thick and thin. Let them know that you love and support them, no matter what.
- How do I forgive? Everyone makes mistakes. Learn how to forgive your partner and move on from disagreements.
- How do I have fun together? Relationships should be enjoyable. Make time for activities that you both enjoy and that bring you closer together.
Module 4: Spiritual Growth
- What is my relationship with God? How does my faith inform my view of relationships?
- How do I pray for guidance? Ask God for help in finding love and building healthy relationships.
- How do I seek spiritual support? If you're struggling in your relationships, seek spiritual support from a pastor, counselor, or other trusted advisor.
- How do I remember that God loves me? No matter what, God loves you and wants the best for you. Trust in God's love and guidance as you seek love and companionship.
By completing this self-assessment, you can gain a better understanding of yourself and your needs. This information can be helpful to you as you begin the process of finding love and building healthy relationships.
