Helping a client stop being obsessed with their divorced spouse can be a challenging task, but it is possible with patience and understanding. Here are some tips:

  • First, it is important to understand why your client is obsessed with their ex-spouse. There are many possible reasons, such as:

    • They may be feeling lonely or isolated.
    • They may be struggling to come to terms with the divorce.
    • They may be feeling angry or resentful towards their ex-spouse.
    • They may be experiencing financial difficulties.
    • They may be struggling with substance abuse or mental health issues.
  • Once you understand the reasons for your client's obsession, you can begin to help them to address those issues. For example, if your client is feeling lonely or isolated, you can help them to connect with friends and family, or to join a support group. If your client is struggling to come to terms with the divorce, you can help them to grieve the loss of their relationship. If your client is feeling angry or resentful towards their ex-spouse, you can help them to forgive and move on. If your client is experiencing financial difficulties, you can help them to develop a budget and to find resources for financial assistance. If your client is struggling with substance abuse or mental health issues, you can help them to find treatment.

  • It is also important to be patient and understanding with your client. It takes time to heal from a divorce, and your client may not be ready to move on right away. Be patient with them, and let them know that you are there for them.

  • Finally, it is important to remember that you are a minister.  If your client is struggling with serious emotional or mental health issues, you may need to refer them to a Christian counselor.

If you follow these tips, you can help your client to stop being obsessed with their divorced spouse and to move on with their life.
