Revelation: The Throne Room

At the end of a year, I want to get a glimpse of the throne room as we find it in Revelation chapter four and five-a great vision of God's throne room. The Apostle John was on Alcatraz or Patmos, a prison island. All the other apostles were dead. The might of the entire Roman Empire was bent on wiping Christians from the face of the earth, and it appeared that all was in ruins. And then God sent visions to John so that he would know what reality really is. And so he saw the exalted Lord Christ. He saw him moving among the churches with messages for the churches of rebuke and of encouragement. And after that he had visions that carried him into God's throne room.
After this, I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven, and the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this. At once I was in the spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it, and the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, a rainbow resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were 20-four other thrones, and seated on them were 20-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder.
Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. Also, before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center around the throne were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes in front and in back. The first was like a lion. The second was like an ox. The third had a face like a man, and the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings, day and night. They never stopped saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.
Whenever the four living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to Him who sits on the throne and who lives forever and ever, the 20-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and they worship Him who lives forever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say, "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory, and honor, and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals.
And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, "Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll, but no one in heaven, or on earth, or under the earth, could open the scroll or even look inside. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside? Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. See the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has conquered. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals. Then I saw a lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, surrounded by the four living creatures and the elders.
He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne, and when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the 20-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song. You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.
Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering 1000s upon 1000s, and 10,000 times 10,000 They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice, they sang, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise? Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and all that is in them singing to Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever. The four living creatures said, "Amen, and the elders fell down and worshiped. This ends the reading of God's word. God always blesses His word to those who listen.
When Jesus was giving his message to the seven churches, he ended with a church that received the strongest rebuke-a lukewarm church-and Jesus said, "Things better change quickly, or I'm going to spit you out of my mouth. And then he said, "Those I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Jesus knocks at a door and says to anyone in this church, anyone in this church right here, if you open the door, I'll come in. I'll come into your room and spend time with you, and fellowship with you, and eat with you. He will come into your heart.
He will come into our congregation. He will eat with us and let us feast on him at the table. When the door is opened, he comes down and he comes in. And when the door is open, something else happens. There's a door standing open in heaven, and he says to those lukewarmers that if the door is open and they welcome him in, then he will come in. And not only that, he who overcomes will sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat with my Father on his throne. And the very next thing that John sees after that promise is a door standing open in heaven and the throne of heaven. What a door!
That when Christ comes down through the open door, we also are carried up through the open door to be seated in the heavenly realms, and to get a glimpse of the glories of heaven, of the throne room itself, of God Almighty in all of His power, and when we glimpse that throne room, a throne room that we're destined to inhabit along with the Lord, we see some amazing things. The first thing that John sees is a throne and someone sitting on it. Let that sink in. Somebody's sitting on the throne. It's not empty. Somebody is on the throne, and that somebody is not one of the usual powers that people tend to fear.
He is the Lord God Almighty, and the one who sits on the throne has all power in heaven and on earth. It is hard-well, not even hard-impossible to describe the Ancient of Days, the one who sits on the throne. When John tries to describe him, he speaks of a divine beauty flashing forth. His appearance was like jasper and carnelian. And jasper-it's a little hard sometimes to know exactly what precious gemstones are being described. Jasper may be reflecting beautiful radiance. Some think that it may be referring to diamonds here, to the just the white light that shimmers and shines from the presence of God, or the.
Brilliant red that carnelian, or also called Sardius, has there, and then he says, and surrounding it is a rainbow like an emerald. What is that? What's a rainbow like an emerald? I remember once I've seen some beautiful rainbows. I remember once flying, seeing a perfect circle of a rainbow below. If you've ever seen a total rainbow all the way around, what a what an amazing sight that is! A rainbow encircles the throne, yet somehow it's like an emerald. When Ezekiel saw God's throne, one of the things he says describes in some detail is the pavement. It was like sapphire.
When in Exodus 24 the elders of Israel go up with Moses to see God, it says they saw God, and then when it describes what they saw, it doesn't. It says they saw a pavement like sapphire. So when you're describing God and His beauty and His glory. No amount of words can get the job done because God is beyond words, and no vision or picture can capture God. That's why He prohibited making any images of Him. But from God there is something like this beauty of a rainbow, like the most precious of jewels, whether a sapphire, an emerald, the red of a ruby, or a sardius-all of these colors that are described in the vision-have we forgotten who invented color? Have we forgotten who invented beauty?
Have we forgotten where all the precious stones and jewels and emeralds and sapphires in all the world ever came from. Have we forgotten where all the light came from in the first place? God is light in Him, and there is no darkness at all. And so, every beauty that has ever been seen comes from the throne. Every sound, every beautiful and majestic and mighty sound, whether it's the sound of the thunder, whether it is the sound of rushing waters, whether it's the sound of a trumpet or a harp.
There's one point in Revelation where it says that the singing of God's people was like a harp and like thunder, and like the sound of many waters, and nobody could sing that song except those to whom it was given. Well, yeah, because when you're singing the song of God Himself, and the Bible even says that God sings over His people, do you describe it as thunder or as the might of a waterfall? And sometimes when he wishes, a still small voice, but it is always, always the voice of God, and the one who sits on the throne, the one who reigns in majesty and beauty, the source of all light, the voice that made the worlds, the voice that is beyond all voices. He is the Lord God Almighty.
He is lovely. That's the first thing you have to grasp from this vision. He is the lovely, dazzling, splendid, overwhelming, stunning, the closest, mightiest creatures in the universe. Cover their eyes in His presence and fall before His throne, and He is the one who's on that throne. He is omnipotent, Almighty, and as you gather from the songs of all around the throne, He's worthy. That's what comes up again and again and again.
Worship is recognizing at least something of His worth. You'll have all eternity, and you still won't recognize all of His worth because you could have all of the eons of your existence unlimited, and you will never get to the bottom or to the height of God's majesty and power and beauty, and He's the one on the throne. Never forget it, and remember the circumstances in which people have seen him on his throne. When Isaiah saw the Lord high and exalted, one of the great kings of Israel had just died, and things were moving into turmoil.
When Ezekiel saw the Lord on his throne, Ezekiel was in exile in Babylon when Daniel saw the Lord and the rivers of fire coming from before him and the Son of Man receiving his power. Daniel was in exile when John saw that vision. He was in exile. You have been through a few hiccups in this year, compared to the situation of God's people at the time that these people of God saw these visions. But the throne remains there, and the throne is not empty. He is the one who lives forever and ever.
Bible uses that title of God again and again in the book of Revelation: the one who lives forever and ever, the one who is, the one who was, the one who is to come, the I am who I am of the burning bush and of the burning flame from the throne, and before His throne, well, before His throne are seven blazing torches, which are the seven spirits of God, and along with the Almighty, the Ancient of Days, at the center of the throne there is a lion, who turns out to look like a lamb who has been slain, and this lamb has seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God.
The horns are a picture of His great power; the eyes, a picture of His unlimited knowledge and His seeing of all things.
And this spirit of God, who is the horns of the Lamb and the eyes of the Lamb and the flames before the throne, you know theologians have spent the last 2000 years trying to come up with logical language to describe the Trinity, and they have never beaten this: that from the throne of God comes a sevenfold flame, and on the Son of God are sevenfold eyes and horns of power, and the Son of God sits on the throne of the Ancient of Days. Try to beat that for the deity, the might, the majesty of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-the sevenfold, the perfect fullness of the Spirit of God, that's who's on the throne, and I thought it fitting at the end of this year just to remind you of that simple fact.
I guess it's not so simple when you start thinking about who God is and the wonder and majesty of who He is. But He's on the throne. He's the source of all that is, and because he is, we can pause and say, "Okay, I think maybe instead of panicking, we will worship. Instead of grumbling, we will rejoice because he sits on the throne, and because we have him, we also want to see what else is in that vision. Who are the attendants? Who's around the throne? And when you look at who's around the throne, the closest to the throne are the four living creatures, and the four living creatures are very, very hard to envision. Ezekiel describes them.
John describes them just a little bit differently to try to picture what's beyond picturing of great mighty spirits who are before God's throne. But one thing's pretty clear: they seem to represent all life that God has made, and they bring the worship of all life at the throne of God, and they are His throne attendants. And they only they receive praise and bring it on forward to God, but they also take God's orders and bring it out to the rest of creation: a lion, the king of the wild beasts; an ox, the strongest of the domesticated animals; human, who are meant to govern the creation; and the eagle, the highest of birds.
You have these creatures, and with their wings and with eyes all around, again with the vision that God gives to see throughout all the earth. We do not fully grasp who these mighty cherubim are, but I can tell you this: when the decrees of history start unfolding, when the four horsemen of the apocalypse ride forth with their judgments. It is those four living creatures who are saying, "Come! It's not random horses riding around doing a lot of havoc. God is in charge, and God delegates and allows those close attendants to His throne to bring about mighty things in our world, and beyond those four living creatures, those sometimes called the cherubim or the seraphim, the burning ones.
By the way, of just get all the lies out of your head. You know, you know what they call cherubs? You know those cute little itty bitty things with the chubby cheeks and a little bit of light around their head. No, not okay. Get rid of that thought of the cherubs and and when you look at the cherubs and then at the 20-four elders, the 20-four elders are. Are mighty angelic beings as well, but they're representing humanity in heaven. And we think of the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 apostles of the Lamb. 20-four is a number that's used also in the Old Testament for worship. There are 20-four choirs of the Levites, and so you have these gatherings of worshippers.
And God seems to like the number 12 or 20-four, especially in the visions. And the 20-four elders have white robes symbolizing their purity. They have gold crowns. These are mighty angelic figures of authority. They have harps because they praise God, and God gives similar harps to His people in the Book of Revelation, and they hold bowls of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. Think about that for a little bit. That in God's presence, those thrones around the throne have mighty, mighty beings right in the presence of God, who are also carrying prayers from God's people down here on earth.
You may sometimes wonder whether your prayer got beyond the ceiling or out of the room, and there, at the throne of God are the prayers of the saints, and some of those prayers aren't the politest of prayers. How long, O Lord, till you avenge the blood of the saints? How long till you straighten things out? That's part of the incense in the bowls that rises from the prayers of the saints, and so it's no accident that later on, when you hear of bowls being poured out, the bowls of God's wrath may also be bowls of a lot of accumulated prayers against those who destroy the earth and persecute God's people.
But again, the four living creatures, the 20-four elders, these highest ranks of the spirit beings that God has made surrounding His throne at all times, and they are worshiping constantly, and they are doing God's will, and they are marveling at God, and then they are carrying out His decrees. It's kind of a humbling thought, you know. Sometimes here on earth, we wonder how God's cause is doing, and the sociologists of religion will look at how whether church attendance is going up or down. They'll look at how government is treating believers in a certain country, and we'll get our assessment of how the kingdom of God is doing lately. Is God going to run out of worshippers?
Well, there is one question worth asking, and Jesus asked it: When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth? He will, because He is the one who creates it and preserves it. But here's just a thought: If God didn't have me, He would not run short on worshippers. He is attended by the cherubim and the seraphim, the 20-four mighty elders of heaven, by the 1000s upon 1000s and the 10,000 times 10,000 who never stop worshiping Him. God is not running out of worshippers, and Christ did not come into our world because He was hard up for attention. He came because we needed Him and He loved us, not because He needed us.
And so, once again, when we see the throne and who's around the throne, and all those worshiping beings so much greater and more magnificent than we are, who spend a lot of time on their faces laying crowns before the throne, then we maybe could, for a moment, be humbled a bit, more than a bit, to realize that God commands the worship of such great creatures, and we ourselves are so fall so far short of that.
And when we think of the millions upon millions of angels, and then this multitude in Revelation chapter seven, the apostle sees a vision, and he says, "I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every tribe and language and people and nation, standing before God in the front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes, and they had palm branches in their hands, and they cried in a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb. And all the angels are standing around the throne, around the elders, around the four living creatures, and they fall on their faces and they worship God and they're praising God.
And so you have this picture of this multinational multitude. And then one of the elders says to John, "Never again will they hunger. Never again." Again, will they thirst? The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd. He will lead them to springs of living water, and God will wipe every tear from their eyes. That's the vision of glory. That's why the Bible says, "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.
Yes, they will rest from their labors, for their deeds will follow them. the The dead who die in the Lord are part of that multinational multitude praising God in heaven right now, and all created things are are caught up in praise to God in that great vision. So, God's on the throne and around the throne are worshippers and more worshippers and more worshippers and more worshippers and at the end of it there is nobody who can resist worship. And then we see also what comes from the throne.
God is praised in five songs in the vision that we're looking at here, twice he's praised as the Father, the Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty, the One who is the One by whom all things were created, in whom all things have their being. He's the One who made it all. That's why the Bible says He is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. It all started with Him. It all is held up by Him. It all is headed towards Him. From Him, through Him, to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever and ever, as the Apostle Paul put it. So God is the Creator, the Maker, the Sustainer of all these things.
Not a hair can fall from your head without the will of the one who created all things. Not a bird can fall from the sky apart from His will. He made it all. It lives as long as He ordains, and then it passes into its destiny. And blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. When we forget that, or when we lose our vision and have been outside the throne room for too long, then we worry needlessly. Remember, perhaps some of you, the story of the prophet Elisha, Elisha has been receiving insight from God on the movements of enemy troops, and the enemy king gets kind of tired of that. He says, "Who's got a spy in my throne room?
You know, who's who's taking my plans and just telling them to the Israelites, well, it's not that there's anybody spying from his throne room; it's that somebody else has some access to the throne room. Elisha is getting insights on troop movements and passing them along, and every time they attack, they're thwarted. So finally, he sends a whole army, not against Israel or its capital or anything, but against the village where Elisha is, because he's got to take him out before he can get anywhere, and so they're surrounding the village.
And Elisha has an assistant, and the assistant is very, very worried because all those troops are surrounding the town, and Elisha says, "The ones who are with us are more than the ones that they have, and he says, "Lord, please open his eyes. And suddenly, the assistant sees what Elisha sees: chariots and horsemen of fire all around. And Elisha blinds the whole army, leads them somewhere else, and has them all captured, but you see, that's true all the time.
That the prayers of the saints are held before God's throne by His mighty angels, but also that God's mighty angels and His warriors are given charge by God for His people in all our ways, because He is the Creator, the sustainer of all, the protector of his people. God issues divine decrees, but who can set those in motion? That's the big question that comes up here in this vision. There is the scroll. It's got writing on both sides. It is what is going to happen. It is God's decrees for the future. And every time that you hear a word from God, it has issued from the throne of God.
That's why you have the vision of Isaiah or of Ezekiel or of Micaiah the prophet who is caught up into God's throne room, and when they come back, their word for the people comes straight from the throne of God. Always remember that when you pick up your Bible, you're not just picking up a chunk of paper and looking at some words. You have words that come from the throne room, given by. Prophets who were in the throne room, and in this case, there's another scroll, and it's the scroll of the future of the things that must take place after this, and nobody can get at that scroll, nobody can get the future going, and John cries and cries, and then he's told, "Well, the lion, he can do it.
And he looks, and instead of the roaring lion, he sees a lamb looking like it had been killed, and that lamb can come and take the scroll. And when they praise this lamb before the scroll is begins to be unsealed. They, as usual, are falling down. This time, not just before the Ancient of Days on the throne, but now the Lamb who is on the throne of the Ancient of Days, the Lord Jesus Christ, and they are praising Him and they say, "You're worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
You made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth. He is praised and he's worthy because he redeemed people who were ruined, people who were wicked and lost, and made them priests, people worthy to be in the presence of God, made them royalty, kings and queens to serve His God and Father, and they will reign on the earth. The Lamb is praised because he turned a bunch of losers into rulers. He turned a bunch of nothings into royalty.
So if there already wasn't enough to praise him for, for being so splendid and and for God being so much like all the precious jewels ever made and the mighty voice of the Lord and the glory of His heavenly retinue, what about the fact that he could take somebody who was nothing and put them in thrones in his very presence? If we're to believe certain hints in the Bible, perhaps even exalted above. I, you know, I don't know quite what to make of it, but maybe even above the mighty living creatures and the mighty elders around the throne, I don't know what did Jesus say to him who overcomes. I will give the right to sit with me on my throne. I didn't forget what it said.
I just want you to think for a minute. Did he say I will give them the right to be on the periphery and to admire what's going on in the throne room. Did he say, "I will give them the enormous privilege of at least being within 10,000 yards of the 20-four elders" He said, "I will give them the right to sit with me on my throne. Now, this make of that what you will, or don't make. He'll make of he'll make of you what he will. That's a better way to put it. Right now, we're trying to make of it what we will. But the point is, he's going to make of us what he will, because that lion, that lamb, is one of us. A cherubim did not get to the center of the throne.
An angel, or an elder, one of those heavenly shining elders, did not get to the center. The Lamb, the Man, the slain man, is at the center of the throne, and that should give you something to chew on for the rest of the year, and maybe for the rest of eternity. Well, when he comes, he opens and he directs the future. Nobody else can do it, but the Lamb is worthy, and he comes and takes the scroll. And when he does, everybody falls down and worships before him, and the angels worship before Him, and all of creation worships before God and the Lamb.
The five songs: two to the Ancient of Days, two to the Lamb, and then the final song to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be glory and honor and power forever and ever. And then the mighty Amen from the four living creatures. From that throne is the future, and everything that has been happening over the last 2000 years and on into the next years are coming from that throne and from that scroll. And it is that Lamb who unseals the scroll and breaks the seven seals. Now, when those seven seals are broken. It's not all fun and games. There are mighty and terrible judgments that come on the earth. The the four horsemen, the other signs that come in the book of Revelation.
Whether you're talking about the judgments that come on the earth in the seven seals or stemming out of those, the seven. Trumpets and out of those the seven last bowls of God's wrath, but in all of that, God is reigning. The Lamb is reigning. He is unfolding history, and even the terrible things, maybe even especially the terrible things, are sent from the throne as judgments, judgments to scatter his enemies and at the same time give them opportunity to repent before the last and greatest and most terrible judgment, and also judgments to sift and purify his friends and to make them more and more fitting to share in his rule.
He has those twin purposes during this time of trouble and difficulty, of purifying his people, and of driving the hard-hearted towards repentance, and if they keep hardening themselves, of confirming their final judgment. These are the things that are going on, and I assure you, if you read some of those judgments where a third of the creatures on Earth die, 2020 was not your toughest year. I'm not trying to make light of the trials that people have endured, and certainly in an individual life, some things can be overwhelming.
But a reminder, all. all the challenges and trials and judgments on the earth are coming from the great ruler of the earth and from the Lamb and at the hand of His living creatures and of His angels. And we ought to learn from the unrolling of the scroll, and we ought to learn what God is teaching us, even in the year that has gone by. God always is at work for good in those who love Him and are called to according to His purpose in all things. He's working for our good, and so let us look for the good, look for what He is seeking to accomplish in us, to refine us, to make us more like Him. When I look at these visions of revelation of what God does, I want to worship Him.
I want to be drawn to Him. I want to see Him face to face, and at the same time, there is something very, very overwhelming, and stunning, and intimidating about glimpsing the throne room.
When Isaiah saw the vision of God high lifted up, and of the seraphim worshiping before him, he cried out, "Woe to me! I am ruined, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips. When we catch a glimpse of God, then we can't help but be humbled and repent.
When we look at how worthy God is, then we can't help but think of our own failings, our own sins, and repenting of those, of all the worries we had, as though God were not on the throne, of all the grumbling we did, as though God were not worthy of praise, of all the wickedness we committed, as though God were not worthy of obedience, and we're moved to repent of such things if we really see the majesty and the holiness of God. But in the light of His holiness, I repent of my sermons. What sermons are worthy to speak of such a God? I repent of my worship. What worship did I offer in this year that was worthy of such a God?
I feel like repenting of my prayers because so many of them were half-hearted and mumbling and worrying. And when you're in God's presence, you don't just repent of the bad things you did, you start feeling like the good things you did were not worth very much, and yet, in His grace, He takes them all, discards what was unworthy, burnishes, cleanses, brightens what needed to be brightened, and He accepts our worship. He accepts our prayers in those golden bowls of the 20-four elders. He accepts the prayers that are brought to him by the seven spirits of God and are mediated by the Lamb at the center of the throne.
When we, when we worship Him, when we get just a sense of who He is, then and that's what happens at times of revival. Some of the greatest of the saints are suddenly on their faces, wondering what is wrong with me. How can I be so half-hearted and so worthless? That's that's what happens to the best of people when they get a glimpse of the throne room. And for the worst of the people who have not. Well, when they get a glimpse of that face, they're crying for the rocks to fall on them and for the mountains to cover them. And so, I just wanted to bring you into the throne room at the end of 2020.
I really can't bring you into the throne room, but I thought I would at least direct you a little bit through the visions that God gave John. He comes, and he comes not just to cast us down and say, "Woe is me. He comes that we may see his face and live forever. He is the blessed and only ruler, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, who dwells in light unapproachable, whom no one can see nor can see, and yet in some sense the Bible says we will see his face and his throne will be here on earth and heaven will come to earth and we will see his face and rejoice in that face that cannot be seen and and live forever and not only that we will reign with him. Let me just end where I began.
Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. When I was nine years old, that was the verse that my mom told me when I was wondering what it meant to be a Christian and if I were one. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. And the next night, I dreamed of heaven. Open the door, and there will be a door standing open in heaven. And beyond all thought, you will see the face that cannot be seen.
Beyond all expectation, you will be on the throne with the one who reigns and who lives forever and ever. We praise you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is, who was, who is to come. We praise you, Lord Jesus Christ, Lamb of God, slain for us, risen, exalted, coming again, we praise you that we are destined to reign with you forever, because you have called us as your own in your unfathomable love. We praise you with all the hosts of heaven. We praise you that we are part of such a great and mighty and splendid company, and Lord, when we gather in our own little buildings here on earth, looks like a glorified machine shed. We know that God Himself is with us.
That people have worshiped you in a lot humbler places and have been caught up into the very throne room of God. So let us live our lives always with our hearts and our minds on the throne, for Jesus' sake. Amen.
