Introduction to Spiritual Growth (1 Module)
Professors: Rev. Henry Reyenga and Pastor Brian DeCook
Introduction to Spiritual Growth is a foundational Christian formation course designed to help students understand what it means to grow in Christ as whole persons before God. Built around the biblical story of Creation, Fall, Redemption, Calling, Christian Walk, and Spiritual Destiny, the course presents human beings as embodied souls—spiritual and physical, created in God’s image for relationship with God, faithful service, meaningful community, and eternal hope.
Students explore spiritual growth not as religious performance or private self-improvement, but as whole-person restoration through Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. The course examines spiritual rebirth, grace, faith, repentance, assurance, spiritual fruit, discernment, calling, gifts, mission, and resurrection hope.
A major focus is learning to practice the Eight Elements of a Christian Walk: Scripture, prayer, worship, confession and repentance, Communion, Christian community, service and obedience, and rest and remembrance. Students also apply the Seven Connections of a Walk with God across personal life, close relationships, family, friendships, church or Soul Center, kingdom institutions, and relationships with the unchurched world.
Through videos, readings, case studies, worksheets, and quizzes, students develop practical tools for lifelong spiritual formation. This course is suitable for new believers, renewing Christians, and Christian leaders. By the end of the course, students will have a biblical framework for understanding their identity, relationships, calling, ministry, and destiny, helping them become more faithful, integrated, Spirit-led followers of Jesus Christ who live with purpose, serve others in love, and look forward with confidence to resurrection life in God’s new creation.
