Ministry Hosting: Creating Environments for Ministry and Supporting Disrupted or Unsettled Individuals and Families
Course Description: The Ministry Hosting: Creating Environments for Ministry and Supporting Disrupted or Unsettled Individuals and Families course is designed to equip Host Ministers with the compassion, wisdom, and practical skills needed to serve those in need. This course integrates spiritual care with practical support, empowering ministers to offer Christ-centered hospitality. Participants will learn how to establish safe, structured environments that nurture spiritual growth, provide emotional healing, and build community. Upon completion, participants will be certified as Host Ministers, ready to serve in various roles where ministry and hospitality intersect, including offering temporary shelter and emotional and spiritual care to displaced individuals and families.
Course Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the Biblical Foundations of Hospitality: Explore how Christian hospitality is rooted in biblical teachings and modeled by the early church’s practice of opening homes for ministry.
- Develop Practical Hosting Skills: Learn how to effectively manage hosting environments, including setting healthy boundaries, resolving conflicts, and navigating cultural differences.
- Discern the Role of the Host Minister: Understand the unique calling and responsibilities of a Host Minister and evaluate if this ministry role aligns with your spiritual gifts.
- Explore the Hospitaller Role: Gain insight into the specialized Hospitaller role, which requires additional training for those who feel called to offer more comprehensive care and support.
- Provide Trauma-Informed Care: Learn to recognize the signs of trauma and offer compassionate, trauma-informed support to individuals experiencing emotional, spiritual, or physical distress.
- Promote Spiritual Growth and Healing: Discover how to incorporate prayer, Bible study, and spiritual guidance into the hosting environment to foster healing and personal growth.
- Teach Practical and Spiritual Skills: Equip guests with essential life skills, such as job readiness and household management, while also nurturing their spiritual development.
- Navigate Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusion: Create a welcoming, culturally sensitive environment where all guests feel respected, understood, and valued.
- Plan for Successful Transitions: Assist guests in preparing for their next steps, guiding them through the process of securing stable living arrangements, employment, and resources, while providing emotional and spiritual support throughout the transition.
This course provides a well-rounded approach to ministry hosting, preparing participants to serve effectively and compassionately in their communities.

Grading ScaleA: 95-100%, A-: 90-94%, B+: 87-89%, B: 83-86%, B-: 80-82%, C+: 77-79%, C: 73-76%, C-: 70-72%, D+: 67-69%, D: 63-66%, D-: 60-62%, F: 0-59%
To pass the course, you must achieve an average of at least 60%.
Course Deadline
You have 180 days to complete this course. All assignments must be finished by the final deadline to avoid automatic unenrollment and the removal of coursework. If you do not complete the course within this timeframe, you will need to re-enroll and restart the class to earn credit.
