🎥 Video 6A Transcript: The Eight Elements of a Christian Walk

Hi, I am Haley, a Christian Leaders Institute presenter.

In this topic, we are talking about the Christian walk.

Spiritual growth begins with new birth, but it does not stop there. A baby who is born must begin to grow. A believer who is born anew must begin to walk.

The Bible often uses the word “walk” to describe the life of faith. Walking is repeated. Walking has direction. Walking happens over time. Walking includes progress, correction, endurance, and returning when we stumble.

Paul writes in Galatians 5:16, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

A Christian walk is not spiritual performance. It is not trying to impress God. It is not pretending to be mature. A Christian walk is repeated life with God through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In this course, we now identify Eight Elements of a Christian Walk.

The first element is Scripture. Scripture is listening to God’s Word. God speaks through his Word to teach, correct, comfort, warn, strengthen, and point us to Christ.

The second element is Prayer. Prayer is talking with God honestly. We bring praise, confession, lament, requests, intercession, and surrender before the throne of grace.

The third element is Worship. Worship turns our attention toward God. Worship is not only singing. It is offering the whole embodied soul to God—body, mind, heart, habits, work, relationships, and calling.

The fourth element is Confession and Repentance. Spiritual walking does not mean never stumbling. It means learning to return. Confession tells the truth before God. Repentance turns from sin and returns to God’s design.

The fifth element is Communion, also called the Lord’s Supper. Communion helps believers remember, receive, and proclaim Christ together. At the table, we remember the body and blood of Jesus. We receive the gospel again. We proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

The sixth element is Christian Community. No one grows alone. The Christian life is personal, but it is not private. We grow as members of the body of Christ.

The seventh element is Service and Obedience. Spiritual growth becomes love in action. Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.”

The eighth element is Rest and Remembrance. Rest reminds us that we are creatures, not God. We remember creation, redemption, God’s faithfulness, and our identity in Christ.

These eight elements do not save us.

Christ saves us.

These elements help us live in grace.

They teach us to listen, speak, worship, return, remember Christ, belong, serve, and rest.

That is the Christian walk.

It is repeated life with God.
