📝 Worksheet 6.4: Eight Elements and Seven Connections Christian Walk Plan

Course: Introduction to Spiritual Growth
Topic 6: Spiritual Walk — The Eight Elements and Seven Connections of a Christian Walk
Connection: This worksheet helps students build a realistic one-week Christian walk plan using the Eight Elements and the Seven Connections.

Purpose of This Worksheet

Spiritual growth is not only something to understand.

It is something to practice.

The Christian walk is repeated life with God through Christ by the Holy Spirit. It is not perfection. It is not spiritual performance. It is not trying to impress God or other people.

It is learning to walk with God in real life.

This worksheet will help you identify:

  • which elements of your Christian walk are already present

  • which elements need renewed attention

  • where your walk with God is becoming visible

  • where your walk with God needs to become more integrated

  • one small faithful step you can take this week

Do not rush through this worksheet.

Pray honestly.

Think realistically.

Ask God for grace.

Part 1: The Eight Elements of a Christian Walk

Review the Eight Elements below.

For each one, mark where you are right now.

Use this scale:

1 = Rarely present
2 = Occasionally present
3 = Somewhat steady
4 = Growing stronger
5 = Becoming a healthy rhythm

1. Scripture — Listening to God’s Word

Scripture is listening to God’s Word for truth, correction, comfort, wisdom, and direction.

My current rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Reflection:

  • Am I regularly listening to God through Scripture?

  • Do I read Scripture only for information, or do I receive it as God’s Word for my life?

  • What passage, book, or biblical theme is God using in my life right now?

My reflection:

2. Prayer — Talking with God Honestly

Prayer is honest conversation with God. It includes praise, confession, lament, petition, intercession, thanksgiving, and surrender.

My current rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Reflection:

  • Do I speak honestly with God?

  • What do I tend to avoid bringing to God?

  • Is my prayer life becoming more real or more routine?

My reflection:

3. Worship — Turning Attention Toward God

Worship re-centers the whole embodied soul toward God. Worship includes singing, gratitude, surrender, reverence, obedience, and offering the whole life to God.

My current rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Reflection:

  • What receives most of my attention, affection, fear, or trust?

  • Is God being treated as God in my daily life?

  • How can I worship God more intentionally this week?

My reflection:

4. Confession and Repentance — Returning to Alignment with God

Confession tells the truth before God. Repentance turns from sin and returns to God’s design.

My current rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Reflection:

  • Where have I been hiding, excusing, blaming, or avoiding truth?

  • Is there a sin, habit, attitude, wound, or relationship pattern I need to bring into God’s light?

  • What would grace-shaped returning look like this week?

My reflection:

5. Communion / The Lord’s Supper — Remembering, Receiving, and Proclaiming Christ Together

Communion reminds believers of Christ’s body and blood, the new covenant, forgiveness, belonging, and the hope of Christ’s return.

My current rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Reflection:

  • Do I receive communion with gratitude, reverence, and faith?

  • Do I remember that communion is not a reward for spiritual performance but a reminder of Christ’s grace?

  • Is communion shaping how I relate to the body of Christ?

My reflection:

6. Christian Community — Growing with the Body of Christ

Christian community reminds us that the Christian life is personal, but not private. We grow with the body of Christ.

My current rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Reflection:

  • Am I meaningfully connected to other believers?

  • Who knows how I am really doing spiritually?

  • Where do I need encouragement, accountability, or support?

My reflection:

7. Service and Obedience — Practicing Love in Action

Service and obedience turn spiritual growth into practical love. We do not obey to earn salvation. We obey because we love Christ.

My current rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Reflection:

  • Where is God calling me to obey?

  • Who is God calling me to love in practical action?

  • Am I serving from grace or from pressure?

My reflection:

8. Rest and Remembrance — Receiving Limits as Gifts

Rest reminds us that we are creatures, not God. Remembrance helps us recall creation, redemption, God’s faithfulness, and our identity in Christ.

My current rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Reflection:

  • Am I receiving my limits as a gift or resenting them?

  • Where am I driven, anxious, hurried, or exhausted?

Part 8: Ministry Leader Reflection

This section is especially helpful for Christian leaders, chaplains, coaches, mentors, Soul Center leaders, and church volunteers.

Someone I am helping or praying for:

Which element may need encouragement in this person’s life?

How can I encourage this person without shaming them?

What question could I ask to help them take one faithful step?

What support, referral, or accountability might be needed?

Part 9: Final Reflection

Answer the following in a few sentences.

Closing Prayer

Father,

Teach me to walk with you.

Help me listen to your Word, pray honestly, worship with my whole life, confess and return quickly, receive communion with gratitude, grow with your people, serve in love, and rest in your faithfulness.

Show me one faithful step I can take this week.

Help my walk with you become visible in real relationships, real responsibilities, real institutions, and real mission.

Form me as an embodied soul who walks by the Spirit through Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
