🎥 Video 11B Transcript: Gifts Without Love Miss the Point

Hi, I am Haley, a Christian Leaders Institute presenter.

In this video, we are looking at a very important truth: gifts without love miss the point.

In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul writes that a person may speak with the languages of men and angels, but without love, that person becomes a sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. He says a person may have prophecy, knowledge, faith, generosity, and even sacrificial courage, but without love, it profits nothing.

That is a sobering teaching.

Paul is not saying gifts do not matter.

He is saying gifts must be governed by love.

The Corinthian church had spiritual activity, but they also had division, pride, comparison, immaturity, and disorder. Some people seemed impressed with visible gifts, but Paul turned their attention to something deeper: Christlike love.

This still matters today.

A person can be talented and still be harsh.

A person can be knowledgeable and still be unkind.

A person can be courageous and still be proud.

A person can be generous and still crave recognition.

A person can serve constantly and still resent the people being served.

This is why spiritual growth must form character, not merely activate gifts.

Love does not cancel gifts. Love gives gifts their proper direction.

Love asks, “Will this build up the body of Christ?”

Love asks, “Am I serving people or using people?”

Love asks, “Am I willing to be hidden?”

Love asks, “Can I receive correction?”

Love asks, “Do I care more about faithfulness than recognition?”

Spiritual gifts are powerful, but love makes them safe and fruitful.

Think about teaching. Teaching without love can become cold information or spiritual superiority. Teaching with love forms people in truth.

Think about leadership. Leadership without love becomes control. Leadership with love protects, guides, and strengthens others.

Think about mercy. Mercy without wisdom may become enabling. Mercy with love and truth brings compassionate help.

Think about discernment. Discernment without love can become suspicion. Discernment with love becomes wise protection.

Think about service. Service without love can become duty, resentment, or performance. Service with love becomes worship.

From an Organic Human perspective, love involves the whole person. It is not only a feeling. It shapes words, tone, timing, body language, habits, boundaries, and action.

Love is spiritual, and love becomes visible.

So when you think about your gifts, do not only ask, “What can I do?”

Ask, “Who am I becoming as I do it?”

The goal is not to become impressive.

The goal is to become faithful.

Spiritual mission grows when gifts are surrendered to Christ, purified by love, and offered for the good of others.

Without love, gifts miss the point.

With love, gifts become ministry.
