🎥 Video 1A Transcript: Welcome to Christian Marriage Growth

Hi, I am Haley, a Christian Leaders Institute presenter.

Welcome to Christian Marriage Growth.

This course is about learning to see marriage as God designed it: not merely as romance, not merely as a legal arrangement, not merely as shared responsibilities, and not merely as private happiness between two people.

Christian marriage is a covenant before God.

A husband and wife are embodied souls. They are spiritual and physical persons, created in the image of God, affected by sin, redeemed by Christ, and called to grow in love, truth, faithfulness, forgiveness, intimacy, fruitfulness, and mission.

That means marriage growth touches the whole person.

It touches prayer and worship.

It touches communication and conflict.

It touches sexuality and affection.

It touches money, work, parenting, in-laws, aging, grief, forgiveness, and daily habits.

It touches the way a husband and wife speak to each other when they are tired.

It touches the way they repair harm after conflict.

It touches the way they stay faithful when life becomes stressful, disappointing, or painful.

Many people enter marriage with sincere love but unrealistic expectations. They believe love will make growth automatic. They believe marriage will fix loneliness. They believe attraction will solve conflict. They believe faith will remove struggle.

But Christian marriage is not magic.

Marriage is a covenant journey between two sinners in process who are learning to walk together before God.

This course will honor marriage without pretending marriage is easy. It will teach forgiveness without enabling abuse. It will celebrate intimacy without selfishness or coercion. It will call couples to faithfulness without denying the realities of sin, wounds, habits, aging, illness, and death.

Some students may take this course with their spouse. Others may take it alone. Some may be engaged or preparing for marriage. Others may be pastors, chaplains, officiants, mentors, or Soul Center leaders who want to help others grow.

Wherever you are, this course invites you to ask: What does God want to form in me so I can love more faithfully?

Marriage growth begins when we stop asking only, “How can my spouse change?”

It deepens when we also ask, “Lord, how are you forming me?”

Christian Marriage Growth is not merely about learning marriage information.

It is about becoming a more faithful spouse, mentor, leader, and servant of Christ in the covenant realities of married life.
