The Life Coaching Program is designed for individuals who feel called to guide others in discerning and achieving their goals while glorifying God. Life coaching ministers support people in overcoming obstacles, but their role is distinct from pastoral care or counseling, though some overlapping elements may come into play. Coaching focuses on helping individuals take actionable steps toward growth, with the flexibility to provide directive or semi-directive ministry as needed.
Two Available Roles
- Certified Ministry Life Coach
This program is for an unordained position, ideal for individuals serving as volunteers in local churches, such as elders, deacons, or other church leaders. - Certified Life Coach Minister
This program is for those seeking to combine ordination in ministry with life coaching.
The Role of Life Coaching Ministry and Ministers
Life coaching ministers are equipped with both core coaching practices and core ministry skills, making them effective in a variety of settings, including:

Program Overview
The Coaching Ministry Program is accessible and affordable, designed for part-time study that can be completed in 6 to 12 months. For those choosing ordination, this clergy-level program provides confidentiality protections, recognizing credentialed ministers with the authority to serve their communities.
The ordination pathway also includes training for traditional ministerial roles, such as officiating weddings and conducting other ministry functions.

To enroll in the Coaching Minister Program, you must first complete the Coaching Minister Role Program as a foundational step. This program culminates in the Certification of Ordination Recognition, affirming your readiness to serve as a coaching minister.
Steps to Complete Certification and Ordination
Step 1: Review Your Credential Program
Choose one of the following pathways:
- Complete the required Christian Leaders Institute Training specific to your credential.
- Complete the Certification Training taught by Professors Steve Elzinga and Henry Reyenga.
Step 2: Complete the Life Coaching Certification Class
Finish the final certification course and receive credit for the Life Coaching Certification and Commissioning Class.
Step 3: Update Your Profile
Share your personal story and express your passion for becoming a Coaching Minister. [Click here to update your profile.]
Step 4: Secure Level Two Endorsements
Obtain or confirm two endorsements to validate your readiness for the role of Life Coaching Minister.

Step 6: Become Certified or Certified, Ordained, and Commissioned
- Unordained Path: Become certified as an unordained ministry coach.
- Ordination Path: For those in the ordination program, celebrate your achievement by becoming Ordained and Commissioned in your local church or community. This step allows you to publicly share your story and inspire others with your journey.

This Certification and Commissioning Course covers two types of credentials. One credential is a certification through the Develop School, and the other is the commissioning class for ordination as a Life Coaching Minister with the Christian Leaders Alliance.
Review each credential carefully. You must complete one of the two credentials listed. After completing the required ministry training, you will proceed with the program you are interested in. The two programs available are the Certified Ministry Life Coach or the Ordination level of Licensed Life Coach Minister.

For Those Seeking the Ordination Credential
'The Life Coach Minister is a clergy status role at Christian Leaders Alliance. While we can observe your academic readiness for becoming a Coaching Minister, we need to have your calling confirmed by those who know you. We ask for at least two endorsements. Click here to complete the endorsement activities.
You must obtain 2 letters of recommendation from someone who has observed your Christian character. They can be from:
- A ministry leader or a Mentor Minister
- Your spouse or a friend if unmarried
- A non-family member that knows you and respects you.
These two endorsements are essential for your credibility as a Life Coach Minister.

For those in the Certified Ministry Life Coach program with the Christian Leaders Institute Christian Development School, you may now purchase your credential. The specialization you have taken additional training in life coach prerequisite training in specific areas of coaching. For instance, if you want to offer a life coaching specialization in the area of pre-marriage counseling, you will first be certified as a Coaching Minister (Life coach minister) through this class, then you will take the required classes that specialize in the ministry area.
