Getting Started in the Christian Life Coach Program

This getting started course is a welcoming introduction for Christians who want to explore life coaching education or coaching ministry through Christian Leaders Institute.Course PurposeGetting Started in the Christian Life Coach Program presents Christian life coaching as a Christ-centered practice of attentive listening, reflection, prayer, biblical encouragement, accountability, Soul Growth discernment, and faithful next-step support.
Christian coaches walk alongside people as they seek spiritual growth, clarity, wisdom, healthier relationships, calling, maturity, and faithful direction under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
This course will introduce you to four Christian life coaching options. You do not need to decide your entire future before beginning. The course will help you understand the differences between the available options and identify the pathway that best fits your present calling.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

- Describe the difference between certification and ordination
- Identify foundational Christian coaching skills
- Recognize healthy coaching boundaries and confidentiality concerns
- Explain when referral to a qualified professional is necessary
- Describe how training, endorsement, profile development, and local commissioning support ordination
- Use the Christian Leaders Dashboard and Available Credentials panel
- Explain how free-access Christian education is supported
- Choose an appropriate next course or coaching pathway
How This Course Works
Part One: Explore Christian Coaching
Christ-Centered Foundations
Through short videos, focused readings, case studies, reflection activities, and quizzes, you will explore the purpose and practice of Christian life coaching.
You will learn how attentive listening, prayer, biblical encouragement, accountability, reflection, and Soul Growth discernment can help people identify faithful next steps.
Part Two: Discover Your Pathway
Certification and Ordination
You will explore one non-ordained educational credential and three Christian Leaders Alliance ordination pathways.
Each pathway includes a different level of preparation and ministry responsibility. This course will help you compare the options without feeling pressured to make every future decision immediately.
Four Christian Life Coaching Options
Christian Leaders Institute offers pathways for students interested in Christian coaching education as well as students exploring an ordained Christian coaching ministry.
Educational CredentialCertified Life CoachThe Certified Life Coach is a non-ordained educational credential offered through the Christian Development School.

Christian coaching begins with listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, and helping people reflect on their circumstances, relationships, spiritual growth, and calling.
Prayer and Biblical Encouragement
Christian coaches may support others through appropriate prayer, biblical encouragement, accountability, and faithful next-step support under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Soul Growth Discernment
Soul Growth discernment helps people prayerfully consider where God may be inviting them to grow, mature, or take a faithful next step.
Healthy Boundaries
Responsible Christian coaches serve within their level of training, maintain healthy boundaries, understand confidentiality concerns, and avoid creating unhealthy dependence.

Important: Christian life coaching does not replace professional counseling, psychotherapy, medical treatment, legal advice, or crisis intervention. Responsible Christian coaches serve within their training, avoid creating dependence, and refer people to qualified professionals when needed.This course will help you recognize situations that are appropriate for Christian coaching and situations that require referral to a qualified counselor, medical professional, legal professional, crisis service, or another appropriately trained provider.
